^ so very true. It was sooo easy for me this time around to find the heartbeat. I also know not to panic if I can't... 1st pregnancy I would die a little on the inside each time I struggled to hear it lol @schwabab mine is similar to this one, but it's pink instead of blue

I just ordered mine off ebay. I will be 8 weeks tomorrow and I have an appointment with the midwife - I wonder if I can convince her to show me how to use it/try to find it on hers this early

My doctor recommends you bring your Doppler in so they can show you how to use it because they don't want people calling freaking out because they couldn't find a hb. Maybe yours has the same policy?
Unfortunately my Doppler wont be here until Monday and my appointment is tomorrow
I have a Sonoline B. With my first daughter I found it at 9w2d, my second was 8w5d, and this baby I found it at 9w3d. My uterus is already well above my pelvic bone so once I tried I found it right away.
Annnnnd I'm just gonna go ahead and ignore this thread from here on out. Received mine in the mail tonight and at 10w1d could only find placenta. *kicks dirt*

Me too. And my own heartbeat. I'm going to give it a few days.
My husband and I tried today at my hospital with one that I borrowed from the L&D floor and couldn't find the HB at 11w4d. We tried for less than 10 minutes but neither of us had done it for many years (as med students).

Keep trying! Today took me a lot longer and kept hearing other "swooshes" and my hb. It took me about an hr! Don't give up!
The baby is hiding behind my pubic bone last night I sucked the gut in and layed flat and found it that way. Maybe give that a try for all those having a hard time.
I use mine in mode 2 on my sonoline b I'm 11w5d first found it around 9weeks. It was really low by my pelvic bone and to the right but now it is more in the center pretty far above my pelvic bone. If you pick up the placenta sound try to stick to that general area (it's worked best for us) make sure to have a lot of gel and move it really slow turning in all directions. I can never seem to find it but I have my H help me and he always gets it right away. I joke with him that I'm going to be a bad mom since I can't find it haha but he says maybe it's the angle. HTH
I will try again tonight. I'm pretty, um, fluffy so I wonder if that has something to do with it. I've tried to research info about finding the placenta but no heartbeat, wondering if it's still a good sign (because I could totally live with that) but have been unsuccessful. Thanks for the tips!
@BRNCLES I had the same issue the other night just was able to hear placenta. General consensus from dr google was that if the placenta is still functioning baby is doing great. That the placenta needs the baby to work. I could be wrong but that's what I read after my mini freak out session.
@abc829 Awesome! That's the relief I need. I think the combination of stress from not finding the heartbeat, plus undesirable answers from my unclear question to dr. Google was a recipe for disaster last night, so I'm looking forward to a fresh attempt tonight. I'm too proud to call my doctor with anything Doppler related because I know she will be like "bitch, back off & let me do my job!"
@BRNCLES mine already thinks I'm crazy lol but im kind if scared to tell her I got a Doppler lol. Also use a shit ton of gel I can normally hear the heart beat behind the wind through the trees sound (placenta)I just try and listen and move the wand like a joy stick while sucking in my belly and laying flat.
I just caved and bought one. I was worried I would freak out if I couldn't find the heartbeat. After waying up that against how great it would be to share the experience with my other children and my husband I decided to buy one.
Caved and bought one from amazon. Tried it right when it arrived today and heard my heart beat and then the little one's! Very relieving, exciting, and reassuring. 9w4d.
I don't have one of my own, but at my 12 wk appt with my OB, it did take her quite a while to find the HB with her fetal doppler. Gave my fiancé and I quite a scare! But 2 minutes later, there it was (quiet and still thrushy, but there). I would buy one myself, but I might just be on it all day! Good luck and wishes for good health for baby and mom!
I ordered the sonoline b because of this thread. It came last night and found the heart beat! So awesome! Except this morning I am digging around and can't find it lol I will check again later. Thanx for this thread!
Yes, this thread convinced us to get one too. After reaearching, we got Angel Sounds over the sonoline b. Lots of good reviews and 20 bucks cheaper! It comes in tomorrow and I can not wait!!!!!
Got mine and tried three different times, still no heart beat. Found the placenta, but no heart beat. So now I'm worried which is exactly why my husband told me not to get it. 10w6d

If you hear the placenta all is well with baby no need to worry
Tried the Doppler out for the first time today (8w4d) - the first time I tried it by myself and could only find the placenta. Which was still cool, since it is early. When DH got home I pulled it out to show him the placenta sound and was surprised to find baby right away! It was kinda hard to distinguish with all the other sounds, but since it is so early, I am not too worried.
I bought the sonoline b because of this thread...eBay $45 free shipping! It arrived today and I heard the HB! So exciting. I think this is a great way for my husband to bond with the pregnancy a little more too
It's it possible to push to hard and dig around to much when trying to find the heart beat? I got mine yesterday and after an hour I finally found it but woke up today so sore:/
