@triplej9 I like this game. James, Josiah, Jason, Justin, Joshua, Jameson, Jacob, Jeremy, John, Jeremiah, Jackson, Jordin.. that's all I can think of at the moment.
@erobbins09, can be attend a pediatric appointment and being it up there so that a doctor tells her is stupid? I like the idea to show her credible research and resources.
@kkleigh10 she wouldn't know... It's more of an everyday type of thing with her... I keep a pretty organic home.. With the occasional baseball game hot dog, fatty food fest... Enough to stay sane, and with no knowledge of what we feed DD she wrote an email telling us where the organic food section is in our nearby store.... I'm from California. We've been doing organic for years. It's the constant digs at how great she is... And I guess this is an opportunity to show how she isn't making a smart choice... And now I realize how middle school I sound
So i guess it was more of a... How much do you ignore, how much do you throw back thing? I never do.. The step mom role is a hard one to find a voice in and you often have to let things go.
@erobbins09 I think your reply depends solely on how adamant you and your SO are about not using bumpers. If he has equal parenting rights and doesn't want them used he could try showing her the evidence about the dangers. Besides the fact, at a year your getting close to the age they can use it to hoist themselves out of the crib. If it's not a battle worth fighting, I would just ignore.
@mandamoochie we're pretty adamantly opposed and had we known sooner that she's been using them this would have come up sooner.. Mama Bear me wants to push it (and he does too based on the 5+ articles he's sending me ATM) but happy go lucky me would drop it. But I just turned the reins over to him... As much as he hates me saying this because of how trashy it makes us seem... "it's your baby mama drama.. I'm out!"
Haha its funny you mention this. DH said this pregnancy and last that he knew the baby was a girl because she was stealing her mommy's beauty.... and both times he has been right LOL!
I had my 20 wk (close enough) appointment today too! Everything is going great, nothing remarkable to report. I met a new doctor on the team and I really liked her- that 2 out of the 3 I've met so far that I really like. And the 3rd is fine, she was just a little more abrupt than I'd like from a bedside manner perspective. No biggie. Anyway, you're right, that is a super weird thing to say- I've never heard anyone say that pregnant ladies with girls are prettier than boys. How bizarre! Why the hell do people judge women's appearance about everything?!
Seriously. I know, right?!? I'm not one to go in for really any of the old wives' tales about sex prediction, but if you're going to go with one, I've only ever heard the same one as you folks have.
My mom is odd about appearance though, and you know, we have a whole history of having spent my teen years together, just her and me. So whenever I make any comment about appearance, or even something general like, "I just think all pregnant ladies look so glowy and nice!" she just rolls her eyes and says, "just take the compliment and move on!" Which was not the point I was trying to make, but OK, geez.
--- Jan Siggy Challenge: What You're Looking Forward to Most After Baby Arrives ---
I'm going to need help with boy "j" names, but I have been avoiding starting a thread.
I would like to at least humor my husband and TRY to come up with something. I just hate working in parameters. I just want to pick a name with no stipulations.
My name starts with J, and the thought waaaayyy back when, is first kid would have DH initials. and second kid would have mine, so I have lots of J baby names for a boy and girl. Some are uneek, but most are straight laced.

How much is too much for stroller cost, if it's going to be an item on your registry?
We have a $350 stroller currently on there, a Citimini jogger (????? whatever that is ?????) that was recommended by the store associate. $350 seems like a ton, but I am pretty unfamiliar with stroller costs. No one knows we even registered yet, and we're still making changes to it, but are friends and family going to think a stroller of that price is presumptuous and snooty? I know the price range is like, $20-2000, but is it normal to get something more than about $200?
I think that is totally acceptable to put on a registry!
I agree!! Put it on there! We put even the cribs on there.....that may be a little tacky, but I don't really give a care
DH was talking to a close friend today and her insurance paid for a pump since her baby was in NICU for a while, so she had a BRAND NEW never opened medela pump for $150. DONE. Bought. YAY!!!!

Twins? You mean two babies? WOW!
Team PURPLE!!
We are excited to meet William Alexander and Harper Abigail in 2015!
OMG! My day that was supposed to be spent subbing 2nd graders turned into kindergarten, let's just say that never again will I attempt to do this while pregnant. I had moments where I literally felt like I was going to pass out. For the most part they were really good and sweet, but I was just in so much pain.

yaaaassssss. that should have been my first point of reference!
Oh dear. That lady is going to be crucified. Poor wording or not. How dare she speak that way about anyone that has had a loss.
It's just beyond me that THAT'S what you think of when you think of too many names to keep straight. THAT'S where you go??? Cripes, tell people to get non-generic avatars and lurk longer or something. Like a normal person.
@triplej9- DH and I are pretty sure our little guy is going to be Jackson. Just a thought. Plenty of other awesome J names suggested above! I think Jonah is cute too!

DS's name is Jackson, so I think you have picked out a fantastic name for your little guy

And now Im a hysterical mess. Reading that May15 UO comment unprepared was like a direct punch to the gut. I kind of wish someone warned about that on here before my nosey ass went rushing over to read it.
I seriously am having a hard time breathing. That one really hurt...

@AngieAn about 40 minutes away! It's such an awesome place to live
That is so wonderful. I have always wanted to go there. It's a 24 hour drive ( a bit longer then you, LOL) but for some reason we never make it out there. We were thinking about going this November, but when I found out I was pregnant we decided that since we already went on one vacation, we would pass on that one. Maybe we will make it a priority for next year!

I just couldnt even stand to read the comments. After Naria's comment with all the Fuck thats, I just had to stop reading. I felt exactly like Naria did and felt myself about to get banned from the explosion of words I was about to throw up on that post.

I'm so sorry Jaz. I should have provided more background information. My brain was reeling to process it as well so I wasn't quite sure what to say about it. Please forgive me for pointing people to it without a warning.

Yeah, definitely not entertainment type of drama.
