@mahalo3 Nora was on our list too! I love her name and your mom can suck it When we told the family our names today, someone said, "Why don't you call them Abby and Alex?" My answer was simply that they got to name their own kids. The end. They shut up fast
Good answer! I am going use that when my mom complains about her name.
I've read about people eating their placenta - I feel like its EVERYWHERE now. You send it away and they freeze dry it into little capsules or a powder, right? Supposedly it helps with weight loss and PP depression. It's just odd to me... If it is so great how did all the Mom before us do with out it? I think I will pass.
This reminds me of the thread on TTGP where someone asked how you tell the difference between two kinds of cervical mucous (I think sticky and creamy?) and one poster said one tasted saltier.
So... enjoy that. That's my Throwback Thursday
:-&
Ewwwww..... on both of these. :-& What I really want to know was who was the person who tried it first? Why? And who decided to try it enough times to measure the effect it had on PP and weight loss?!?!?!
I am super excited today because our outdoor shed is finished!! We cleaned out all our camping stuff from the indoor storage room last night and now I get to clean/paint it so that all my craft supplies can move out of baby's closet. The nesting is intense at our house, I think I might have to give DH a break soon. Poor thing is worn out.
I've been eating candy corn like it's going out of style and I think my lil guy is going to love candy corn just as much as his mama because he starts moving every time I have a few pieces. :x
sorry for the run-on!
Why did you have to mention candy corn? :-L
Currently eating an apple, but tossing it in the garbage and running to grab the candy corn I bought last week and forgot about!!!

I said it in a sweet joking manner, but really it meant STFU!!

I'm on my way home from work early today. I've been feeling hot and lightheaded and queasy all day- yuck. I figured I was dehyradrated but I chugged a few bottles of water and no difference. This chick will be planting her ass in the couch for the remainder of the day.
And I just want to AW our little mans name (cause that's about the only thing we have done/decided)- Dominic James. I'm in love. He feels like a real person now!

Love. It. If we have a boy in the future, I want to name him Dominick.
Awaiting our bundle of cute chaos.
F15 January Siggy Challenge: What You're Looking Forward to Most after Baby Arrives
@erobbins09 The "am I the only one" posts irritate me too! I want to post "Oh wow. Yes, you're the only one that feels/looks like that. I would drive to ER now!" But then I would feel like a jerk if they didn't get the sarcasm and actually did go to er.
@crystalw88 Haha, I have no answer to the first few questions except: people. People are cray-cray.
But as to why, yes, as @Sammys1120 noted, some moms claim it has helped them recover physically or get over postpartum depression more quickly. If that's your bag, hey, you know, you do you. But there is no need to bring that imagery to me with no preamble, ew! (...which I realized I kinda also did to you ladies. Sorry!)

DH still has not decided on a name. We gave ourselves the deadline of next Thursday, when we will tell our families in person what we are having. He better get his ass in gear!! I don't know if he will come around to Audrey Caroline though, and that breaks my heart a little bit
Took Ella to Disney again this morning. She was such a good girl and my heart just smiles every time I see her so excited to see a character or go on a ride
I just scored an Ikea Poang rocking chair off craigslist for $60. Totally excited! Im going to sew a slipcover for it. We already have a glider for the nursery, so this one is going to go in the master for MOTN feedings, etc. I've got soooo many projects to do.
Just had my regular OB-GYN appt (at 19 weeks) and this is the second time that she's said that she thinks it's a girl!
So my mom, who has always been a bit of a handful, really wanted my first pregnancy to be a girl, which it was. She kept saying, "I don't know how to raise a boy!" (I'm an only child.) I would repeatedly point out that she doesn't have to raise the kid since she lives 3,000 miles away, and honestly, I doubt it's THAT different. But that was her thing, and when it turned out to be a girl, I just let her be really happy because why not.
So this time, I know she wants it to be a girl again, and so I texted her after my appointment to say that, no guarantees, but they're thinking: girl.
She texted me back: I know baby is girl because you look pretty.
...oooooo-kay.
Leaving aside that I'm sure she meant "prettIER" since my mom is a weirdo but not that bitchy... I asked, you don't think moms of boys get uglier though?!?
Reply: Well, they do.
Why are people so damned weird and terrible about pregnancy and kids?!?

Haha its funny you mention this. DH said this pregnancy and last that he knew the baby was a girl because she was stealing her mommy's beauty.... and both times he has been right LOL!
CatHusbandTX is in the dog house. Last night, I was really bummed that the anatomy scan was a bust in all ways possible. He offered to take me for an elective scan, but I said no because the few that I had researched were all around $100, and I really didn't want to spend that much. I found one today for $45 with an opening on Saturday and he said we should just wait. ARGHHH. I called my OB yesterday and the nurse said that I'll get the orders for another scan after my next appointment, which is 3 weeks away. It will probably take another week or two to get an appointment for another a/s after that. I don't want to wait that long. I want to know what name to call me baby and to be able to start planning and buying.

Anyone dealing with low blood pressure? I'm drinking like 100oz of water a day and am still getting major drops in my bp. It's majorly starting to mess with me.
@crabigator- I had my 20 wk (close enough) appointment today too! Everything is going great, nothing remarkable to report. I met a new doctor on the team and I really liked her- that 2 out of the 3 I've met so far that I really like. And the 3rd is fine, she was just a little more abrupt than I'd like from a bedside manner perspective. No biggie. Anyway, you're right, that is a super weird thing to say- I've never heard anyone say that pregnant ladies with girls are prettier than boys. How bizarre! Why the hell do people judge women's appearance about everything?! Seriously.

I took DS to Disneyland last week. I took him along when he was a younger, so this was the first time he actually enjoyed it. I totally get the heart smile! Every time he got excited, my heart melted. Never had so much fun going there!

As she gets older it is more and more fun. Her favourite ride right now is Dumbo. I'm going to take her a lot this winter and fall because we probably won't renew our passes come March since we will have the new baby. Im sure she will go through Minnie and Mickey withdrawals
@kismetjiss I have low blood pressure and get dizzy all the time even before this pregnancy. Water would only help if you're dehydrated. Add electrolytes in your water should help, I add some salt in my water to boost my blood pressure when I start to feel fainty... and go eat something!
Good luck. Go talk to your doctor too. I hate to get other people all worried, but there could be other reasons, for me it's heart related.
I was just informed by my friend at work that there was red velvet cake in her department (for someone's birthday) with cream cheese icing and that she didn't want her piece. Ya, pretty sure it's on my desk now (and half-eaten).
I want cake.

I just got an email from my mom of the baby shower invitation mock up... and now I cant stop tearing up. I just never thought I would be able to say "im having a baby shower". Im so thankful and happy right now I dont know what to do with myself. All of this is just so surreal.

How much is too much for stroller cost, if it's going to be an item on your registry?
We have a $350 stroller currently on there, a Citimini jogger (????? whatever that is ?????) that was recommended by the store associate. $350 seems like a ton, but I am pretty unfamiliar with stroller costs. No one knows we even registered yet, and we're still making changes to it, but are friends and family going to think a stroller of that price is presumptuous and snooty? I know the price range is like, $20-2000, but is it normal to get something more than about $200?
I'm going to need help with boy "j" names, but I have been avoiding starting a thread.
I would like to at least humor my husband and TRY to come up with something. I just hate working in parameters. I just want to pick a name with no stipulations.

I have expensive things on my registry for the completion discount. People can think what they want. FWIW I registered for the BabyJogger City Select, which is more expensive than the Mini.

I think that is totally acceptable to put on a registry!
I should make a poll.. But I won't. What is the proper reaction to finding out your guy's ex insists not the use of bumper pads in their daughters bed at her house AND ours?! (His DD is a little over year... Don't do the math. Our much loved surprise happened much earlier than planned)...He is a amazing father and was awarded Shared Parenting so they are equal in their parental rights and both retain residential parenting privileges when she is with each parent, respectively.
Do we: ignore it? Send her an email linked with various credible articles on how the AAP doesn't recommend them at all?! Tell her that we don't believe in them? Insist she removes them from her home?
