We just moved to the East side of the Seattle area. I have no idea what winters are like and so I don't exactly know how to prepare. Our winters were generally 40's and 50's starting in November or so. I have no idea what to expect. I was hoping for some help. I've heard that it's not very snowy and that's about all I know so far.
Re: Anyone living near Seattle?
I'm an Eastsider too! Snow is about as frequent as it was when I lived in Charlotte, NC, honestly. There will typically be a couple of really cold weeks (kind of the flip side of the couple-week stints of really hot summer weather) but most of the time it's basically 40s and 50s. However, there is that constant drizzle and that makes it feel really chilly to me. Something about the dampness in the air. Get a wool blend coat with a hood and you are good to go.
Thanks for the help! This move hasn't been the smoothest. I am hoping that we can transition into the cooler weather better.
Oh and I've been told that Halloween costumes need to be warmer. Or they should be bundled up.
H and I have been talking about moving to WA next year. We need to get out of North Dakota, like yesterday, and we both love Seattle.
Does anyone mind telling me what they think of Tacoma? Or should we look into areas closer to Seattle?
(also sorry to thread jack)
Similar COL would be around where I live. Though I would caution against Bremerton unless it's closer to Silverdale (aka East Bremerton), Port Orchard, and Belfair. South Kitsap, Mason, and Bremerton school districts aren't very good. It's also either meth lab city or the "bad part" of town.
Tacoma has gotten pretty nice and the city has plans to clean up a lot of the neighborhoods. I love Seattle but if we were to ever live in the city again we would probably move to Tacoma.
I hope it's true. I really like what I've read about Tacoma.
That's true. We also looked into Redmond. We're just renting now, but we're hoping to buy somewhere in the near future.
We are also debating if we should rent first. It might be easier than trying to hurriedly find a house we like during a visit before we move.
Any realty companies in the area that you would recommend or stay away from?
