Sorry I'm just now getting to this! Life with a newborn is hectic!
Short version: my sweet rainbow baby Isaac was born on 9/4/14 via c section. He weighed 9lbs 1oz and was 20 inches long.
Long version: On 9/3 DH and I checked into the hospital at 5 that evening to begin the induction process. When they hooked me up to the monitors it showed I was having contractions every 3 minutes roughly. The cytotec was placed at 6 and I began to have contractions every minute. At 10 I was checked and showed no progress but since I was having contractions so frequently they couldn't do another dose of the cytotec. They had me eat and shower and said they would check me again in the morning.
I was up all night because the contractions were somewhat painful so I couldn't sleep. At 7 my OB came in to check my progress. Not much happened over night I was at 2 cm and 50% effaced. So he decided to start me on pitocin. That was started at 8 and he went ahead and broke my water. The contractions started getting more intense so around 12 I got the epidural.
The epidural was amazing! And after that I started to progress some. But around 4pm I hit 6 cm and completely stalled. They kept turning the pit up but it didn't do anything. So at 9:30 that evening we decided to go with the c section.
As I was being wheeled to the OR my epidural wore off and I started to feel everything. I was crying out I was in so much pain. The anesthesiologist started pushing meds in the catheter to get me nb again. I was crying because they told me if they couldn't get the epidural to work they would have to do general anesthesia and DH wouldn't be able to be with me. So both of us would miss our baby being born.
After 30 minutes of giving me medication the anesthesiologist asked if he could give me something to make me loopy. At this point I agreed so at least DH could be in the room . After that was given I finally had some relief. And Isaac was born screaming a few minutes later.
All the nurses and the doctor couldn't believe how big he was. And said there was no way I could have delivered him so the c section was our only option.
We are so in love and can't believe how blessed we are. Thank you to all the ladies on this board an TTCAL who helped me through the hardest months of my life.
The craziest thing is my rainbows birthday is 2 years to the day we found our we lost our first baby. So the worst day of our lives became the best!
