Cloth and rashes

Poor DD has a decent diaper rash going on. Not sure what caused (no changes to wash, dipes are clean). Popped up yesterday and is much worse today. I've been using coconut oil, changing every 2 hrs (maybe 3 if she's napping), letting her dry after each change, and let her be naked for a bit this morning.

Is there anything else I can do to help get rid of it quickly and cloth safe?

Editted to add: it's red and raised/bumpy. It's mostly around her butt and her leg creases, but pretty red all over.

  • Yeah baking soda, lots of air. Could it be something she ate?

  • Also raised and bumpy makes me think yeast. In which case you can whip up a batch of cream made up if equal parts nystatin, lotrimin, and monistat cream but I'm not sure if that's cloth safe.

  • She's 7.5 months old. The only new food she has had this week is a couple little bites of cheese.

Just changed her... It's also really dry.

How much baking soda should I put on the bath? We use one of those baby bath tubs.

  • I use enough to make the water cloudy.

  • I'm not sure what you usually have her in but I would try prefolds and wool covers. PUL doesn't breathe like wool. If you don't already have this though it would be $$$ just to get over a rash.

yeah and I'm not sure changing your entire diaper stash is the answer to a rash anyway? :-/

@dancer7889 , so long as it's not something crazy wrong with your wash routine, I like the baking soda bath and air time as much as possible

  • DH didn't get my text about the baking soda bath until after she was already in bed, but we'll try it tomorrow. She was less red overall after being naked basically the whole afternoon.

@Mandmeesh‌ - I don't think it's my wash routine because I follow the basic one you guys suggest here and my diapers always smell/look clean. (Cold rinse, hot wash with tide to line 1, extra rinse.) I'm trying to wash eod because I had been stretching it to every third day .

  • I think you'll be good with the baking soda and air time

Good luck! Let us know how it goes
