TTC After a Loss

What's the best OPK on the market??

Ok, so now that my very crappy day is over (if you missed it, i posted about being a newbie on this board this morning), and my SO and i talked about our next ovulation week, we decided (actually it took no convincing like i thought it might) to try the OPK sticks to help our baby quest. CLEARLY, we are missing the mark. So...what is the best and most accurate OPK on the market? Preferably at a store and not online, but if there's a better one i can get online, we'll do that. I have coupons for the stores though. ;) Anyway, if y'all have some input, I'd appreciate it.

Thank you in advance!!

  • I need ones that are dummy proof so I used the First Response ones the first time. This latest round I am using Clear Blue simply because they were on sale. Ha. Good luck!

  • I like using the Clear Blue digitals and backing them up with cheapies (Wondfos or similar off eBay or Amazon).

  • Thanks so much everyone! I'll start checking some of these out. I really appreciate all your input!!

To answer some questions....i do ovulate regularly. I can feel it. I'm one of those small percentage of women who experience Mittelschmerz. Since the MC though, i don't feel it as often. It comes and goes. So like August i felt it, and September, but hadn't since January.

I used to temp chart. However i got really fed up with the whole thing in June. My temps had elevated after ovulation and stayed there. I was SUPER excited and thought for sure we were pg. Nope. Temp finally dropped the next day after AF showed up. That's when i stopped temping, charting, using the apps i had...all of it. It stresses me out each month when we don't get those two lines. So i haven't done it in a few months.

I follow my cycle on the calendar and guesstimate when my ovulation is at this point. It seems to coincide with the one app i have left on my phone that i don't use much now. I'm starting to think that maybe getting busy on a daily basis would be better than every other day. One of the sites i was reading said everyday was better, but i've read conflicting reports about that. But anyway...perhaps these sticks will help give us a little bit of a clearer picture.

Thanks again everyone! Hope you all have a wonderful day!!
  • Wolfdos from Amazon. Super cheap and super reliable. Chart your temp as well!

  • @Jmaddiso I like to use the First Response. I buy them at walmart. I DON"T use digital because it is too expensive.  I like to use the pink dye because I read somewhere that those are more accurate, however, this may be a myth.

I agree with @greeneyes842 when she says that sex every day is not necessary.

  • @Greeneyes842 Thanks so much for all the info!! You sound like either you are in the medical field or are just really good at this stuff. I find it so frustrating all around. Perhaps it's time to get back to temping for a while and see if we can have more luck with that and the OPK's. To the " I guess if you and your H enjoy ED sex then go for it, but I know my vag would go on strike at that point." SO funny!! Guess we'll see what mine says. ;)

@Beemaya83 Thanks. I may go with the First Response this cycle and see how it goes. The Bump says that's the #1, but i wanted to get other gals opinions first before we go get them later today. My SO is ALL about it. I didn't think i'd have to convince him much, and when i suggested them, mid sentence he said "YES!! Let's go get those!! We're ready! Lets get ourselves a baby!!" Lol. I love your little Joey btw. :)

  • @Jmaddiso, to me the  test line is very obvious when I use the First Response OPK. I like how the line is dark if it detects a + LH surge. There is no really second guessing (for me at least)

  • Great info!! Thanks so much! I was looking them up last night and saw one like my blood sugar meeter. Has strips and a machine and everything. $190!!! Good lord!! I don't know many people who would be able to afford that. Coupons are always good! Is FRER the First Response?? I'm not great with the abbreviations. Lol. Getting better, but on this board a lot of them are very new to me.
  • Does it not work well? What a bummer!! I'd be livid if i spent a lot on something like that and it was a massive disappointment. Try returning it. I know that sounds crazy, but Costco is amazing when it comes to returns. My sister had a camera from there that broke, or was dropped or something...anyway, no box, but since she paid for it with a card, they looked up the receipt. They gave her a new camera!! No haggling or questions. She didn't even have a box anymore for it. Anyway..just a thought. So sorry it wasn't what you had hoped. Especially for this!!!!
