As birthdays are approaching, I thought it would be nice to see what our kids are playing with. Maybe you have something your kid loves that other mom's haven't seen before. So, what's your kid playing with?
Balls. He is obsessed with soccer, golf, baseballs, etc. He can walk around and kick a soccer ball. It's quite impressive. Other than that he loves utensils and toys that have handles. (Shovel, empty milk jug, hammer)
His current favorite thing ever is the broom. Kid will sit there for like 10 minutes pushing the broom back and forth. I think I'm going to buy him a small one for his birthday.
Griffin love his stacking cups still. His new obsession is putting a small ball into them and then shaking it all around. And of course banging the cups together as drums. Oh and books! He gets all cranky pants when we're done reading one.
Rowan though doesn't seem to have a favorite at home. She's too into trying to walk to be bothered right now.
Currently she's playing with a box, putting it over her head and taking it off.
For actual toys, we have one of the V-Tech Laptops from when DS was little. She absolutely loves the thing. She will open/close it, press the buttons, and dance to the music.
DD's current favorite is my boxes of pantiliners/tampons under the bathroom sink, she likes to remove them all then put them back in the boxes. DH installed the latch on his cabinet when we were testing out latch styles, but has yet to install it on mine. If you leave her alone for more than 30 seconds she makes a beeline for our bathroom these days. It's easy entertainment for when I'm getting ready for work at least... She's also really enjoying her birthday balloons- sidenote- my baby is one today! :-)
Then there is this creepy ball. I have not put new batteries in it yet. I remember the first time I turned this thing on and had no idea it moved on its own. I thought it was possessed.
this sounds terrible, but dd thinks the medicine dropper is the best toy ever. is anyone's LO using puzzles yet?
Nope not terrible, DS thinks shoes, empty water bottles and the diaper pail are amazing. I gave him 2 Melissa and Doug wooden puzzles last week and he likes to smash the pieces onto the board to make noise. Basically noise and destruction are his favorite things.
oh yes, shoes for sure. doesn't matter who they belong to, he loves shoes...his, his sisters, mine, grandmas...anyone's shoes. we have to leave them outside now.
His current favorite thing ever is the broom. Kid will sit there for like 10 minutes pushing the broom back and forth. I think I'm going to buy him a small one for his birthday.
My nephew was, too. MIL got him this for his birthday and it's his favorite toy, ever.
I love how the majority of the responses are non-toy items.
DS is obsessed with remotes, xbox controllers, and our cellphones... probably because we take them away when we realize they are within reach. (We did give him an old xbox controller after removing the batteries.)
In terms of toys, he is loving his activity table:
We went to a big consignment sale last week and got a TON of stuff:
He likes all of it, but his faves are that round stacker that looks like air hockey paddles, the big bag of megablock lego things, and the slide. Of course, his most fun activity is tearing apart the foam floor tiles.
We have a vtech train that he really likes. It comes with blocks plus he can push it around or ride it. He also likes balls mostly the big bouncy kind. And he loves blankets!
He just started to understand this toy. You put the ball in, that makes the bus light up and move then pop out the ball. He chases it all around finding the ball then putting it in the hole, its pretty cute.
BRIGHT STARTS HAVING A BALL SCHOOL BUS
other then that he likes to play with our surround sound which is really annoying.
Basically anything he is not supposed to play with. He likes to pull all of our DVD's out of the cabinets. He successfully took off one of our cabinet locks the other day and played with that for a while. He likes to bang the oven door and look at the kid inside the oven.

Does this work? I think it should...that would be GENIUS
Other than the remotes, Nalgene bottles, our Surface and magazines? He loves his stacking cups (we stack them, he destroys), Vtech cube (link below), Melissa and Doug wooden puzzles, balls, plastic hammer and wrench set, and ripping apart the foam mat we have (and chomping on the pieces).
Everything. Like, I was reading the responses going "yup, yup, yup". Diapers, remotes, spatulas, boxes, trash, bottles, cell phones, doors (cabinets too), toilets, the dog water.... everything.
Toy-specific though, he got 2 things for his birthday that he loves:
Playschool Rocktivity Motocycle. Seriously, this thing is awesome - it beeps, plays music (like, real music - "I Like To Move It," "Walkin’ on the Sun," "Life Is a Highway" and "Ticket To Ride", etc.
And his very own cell phone:
We also have a ton of legos / mega blocks / little people blocks. They are everywhere, and he always has one in his hand, lol.

i've looked into working-vacuums, there are 4 or 5 brands that have working vacuum, but none suck/clean the way you would want it to (according to reviews). they just become expensive air suckers that you would have to re-vacuum over anyway.
LO has a little wooden tractor that is a pull toy that he loves. It came with two little attached carts that had a pig and a cow in each one (both wooden). He loves to carry the pig and cow around.

He likes to beat it up and he also sticks his face on the belly to look at the balls inside. It is pretty cute!
Oh and any pushing toy he loves.
My parents have that penguin! I love it. DD, not so much. I think she's scared of it.
We have the penguin as well. DD loves it but the batteries die so fast.
@Kdanson that is odd.We haven't replaced ours once and he beats it up at least once a day.
------
Maybe I used half dead ones from the drawer! I haven't replaced them yet.. But I should get on it.. She loves it so much more when it makes noise when she beats on it.
DH gave DS one of those old school "vacuums" that pops the balls to entertain him while we were at bru the other day, so of course we couldn't leave the store without it. He still seems to really like it.
Re: What's your kid playing with?
The toys he will play the longest with is the FP Zoo, racetrack, a helicopter, and Scout.

And he loves the activity table. He tries to climb on it to stand up or get on the couch.

I keep remembering things as I am losing focus on this project I am working on.

He also likes boxes.
And why are those wooden block activity cube things so freaking expensive??? I think DS would like it but it's rather pricey!
