Milk Intolererance?

Hi Ladies - I know I've posted alot about my boys eating problems, but I think I have pinpointed one of the major problems.  We started yogurt (Yobaby), per my pedi instructions at about 6.5 months - 2 weeks ago.  (I have an appt next week, and I'll ask there too).

Anyway - ever since we started, Aidan has been throwing up his last bottle of the night, almost every night, about 2 hours after yogurt  I didn't link it to the yogurt until yesterday, when I asked MIL to give him yogurt in the morning instead because it was easier than trying to get her to measure the cereal, etc. After his bottle, which he had 1 hour later, he threw it up - including the yogurt.  He never throws up his cereal and fruit.

So, I guess my question is:  Since he's been FINE on the formula for 7 months, I'm thinking it can't be milk allergy/intolerance - but do you think maybe his digestive system isn't ready for the yogurt and thats why he throws up?  Its always a few hours after the yogurt, but during the bottle?  Connor is fine with it, doesn't throw up.

Thanks for any input.

Anyone have experience?

Re: Milk Intolererance?

  • I don't have any experience with that and babies, but I know that yogurt upsets my stomach.  I can have any other dairy products and be fine, but for some reason yogurt upsets my stomach.  Maybe it's the same for your little guy.

  • pp might be right. I would THINK formula would give the red flag of a milk intolerance. I know that with Jax they wanted to (and have) put him on a non-milk formula to help the reflux. But they explained to me that since he was tolerating milk based formula the 9 wks before reflux started that it wasn't a food allergy, but just wanted something that digests quicker for him. Vomiting alone isn't usually the only idicator either...many times its very evident in the poo I guess.

Not a doctor - but I'm thinking he may not be ready for yogurt. Experiment tonight...don't give him yogurt and see how he does after his last bottle!?
