Ha ha!! Gotcha!!

Recently I've gained a deep desire to bake Martha Stewart's chewy gingerbread cookies. I made them last fall and they were AMAZING. So far I have managed to hold off but... today might be the day.

We've had some seriously cool fall days here and all my fall recipe / flavour cravings are coming out.

How about you? Any good fall recipes making #1 on your meal plans?

Edit: for those wishing to see the link, please scroll down to where MrsAngelaMarie kindly found and posted it for me.

Re: Recently I've gained...

  • Can you post a link to the recipe?  This goes for all you other mama's too.  Yes, I'm sure I could Google them, but .... ok, I'm lazy.

  • I was totally going to leave snark. I think my pregnant brain is more gullible these days lol.

I love baking but lately don't have the energy. My other fav fall thing is busting out the crock pot alllll the time. I love crock pot meals. My easiest recipie lately is pork tacos. Pork loin, a can of salsa, and a tablespoon each of chili powder, cocoa, and oregano all into the crock pot for 6-8 hrs on low. Shred. Add cilantro. Eat your weight in tacos.

It's just me and DH so I usually eat for a couple days off this - it's good over rice with some extra salsa, too.

More exciting: I can't WAIT for Christmas cookies. We have a family recipie that is the BEST ever. I will be making them even if I have to roll them on my coffee table while sitting on my couch.

  • REUBENS!! so delicious and fall like. I'm also super hungry for a big pot of chili and then some apple crisp for dessert.
  • Here is a recipe for the best chewy soft chocolate chip pumpkin cookies I've ever tasted. I almost never bake, but I will actually get off my butt and into the kitchen to make these.

    4 c. flour
    2 c. sugar
    2 tsp. cinnamon
    2 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. salt
    1 16-oz. can pumpkin
    1 c. vegetable oil
    2 eggs
    2 tbsp. milk
    2 tsp. vanilla
    2 c. chocolate chips
1 c. walnuts (optional) 1. Mix flour, sugar, cinnamon, baking soda and salt. Add pumpkin, oil, eggs, milk and vanilla; beat on medium speed until well blended. 2. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. 3. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto greased baking sheets. 4. Bake at 375 for 13-14 minutes. 5. Enjoy

I love pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, @kimba1976! Definitely my favorite thing about fall. I use the recipe linked below, doubling the spices, and I use semi-sweet chocolate chips instead of milk chocolate (I also use TJ's whole wheat pasty flour). They are on the muffiny side, where I usually prefer a chewier texture, but I find these are the exception to my rule. I can't wait to try yours! (Edit to add: I just re-read your comment, and I also never bake, but I make these a few times a year--I guess when it works, it works!)

  • Aw I was hoping for some midday drama! Last year I made Oreo stuffed chocolate chip cookies. You just make your favorite chocolate chip cookie dough, wrap it around an Oreo (bonus points this year for cookie dough Oreos!) and bake it. They end up being huge cookies but they are delicious!
  • Homemade apple pie.  I'll have to see if I can find the recipe I use because it's amazing!  I love pie.  And now I need one.  ;)

  • The mom of one of the kids I work with makes the most amazing pumpkin scones. They are literally to die for! She brought me some the other day to take home with me and DH ate them all! I cried....a lot!
  • LOVE gingerbread but to me it is for winter. I'm already baking pumpkin everything and it isn't even fall yet. I need to go apple picking so I can add that into the mix.

Sooo glad that's what this thread was (not weight). I've had a mad craving for snicker doodles! But I settled for rye and cinnamon apple muffins. Now I want gingerbread cookies too damn you...
Whatever you do, do not google the recipe for and make "brown butter salted caramel snickerdoodles." ;) But for real, they are literally the best.
I saw these! I also saw Cheesecake filled pumpkin snickerdoodles. OMG. I am so making them.
