Sunday Spam

Starting the thread this morning because I miss you all!

I'm at a Flyball tournament and ended up having to have a friend run my dogs because I'm too uncomfortable. These babies are sitting LOW and my hips are spreading....
My whole team had a surprise baby shower for me last night!!!!! My little sister even drive three hours one way to come. It was amazing. Dinner, cakes, games, and TONS of presents. A few teams went in and bought our car seats!! And there is so much other stuff that my whole van is full! My mom said "you are well loved by those people" and it sunk in that I really must be. I won't see them again until November, so they wanted to be sure they went ahead with the shower now. How amazing. What good friends.

I hope you all have a fabulous day!!!

Re: Sunday Spam

  • Awe...sounds like you have an awesome team @kefttsc I found that my hips are spreading already, too. When I sit for long periods of time in the car, or my desk at work, I get serious pain. I thought this wasn't supposed to happen yet. Leh sigh.

I'm dealing with a grumpy DH this morning, because my dad called last night and wanted us to go to church with him this morning. I don't mind going to church, and want our children to grow up with the same structure and sense of community we did. I feel that going to church/Sunday School every Sunday gave me a good moral compass, and taught me patience. Not to mention, I remember loving going to church when I was little. My grandparents went to the same church with us, and we'd take turns sitting with them during the service.

DH has no such fond memories of church. While we both went to a similar, extremely conservative church, all he remembers is the hell fire and brimstone messages and lots of snobby hypocritical people who talked about every one else behind their back. It's tough when we both have such different viewpoints on the subject.

My dad's church is much more laid back than the one we went to when I was a child. We've been there a few times now, and I genuinely like the people. DH can't get over his misgivings, and drags his feet every time I bring up going. I can absolutely go myself, but then he gets mad at me because Sunday is "our day" to spend together. I feel like I'm in a no-win situation.

This was long and rambly, but it's been on my mind lately. What do you do when you and DH have conflicting opinions on raising your children?

  • Got up because I could hear my cereal calling to me. Oh, and some pumpkin spice coffee from Green Mountain was, too.

It's lovely today! Once laundry is out of the way, I plan to spend most of my time outside.

  • Lol @WanderingA‌ im keeping henry in sleepsacks till junior high. That kid moves way too much in his sleep for a blanket. I'm thinking I'll give him a pillow and blanket when he moves to a toddler bed. They make toddler versions with the ability to walk in them lol

  • Sorry might be a little graphic for some...Hubby partied a little too hard last night, he is in the bathroom yaking right now.

I really don't miss being hungover and man, my abs would be killing me if I had to do that right now. Yuck!

  • Does anyone have a good toddler bed toy to recommend? DD is doing pretty great in her bed after night two of the Sleep Lady Shuffle, but she still wakes up a few times and we are working on the self-soothing :)  I read great things about the Baby Einstein Sea Dreams Soother toy so we picked it up yesterday and made a big fuss about how big she was to get to use it and how great she was doing in her bed.

She is terrified of it. As soon as it goes on, I just hear "Off!!! OOOOOFFFF!!!"

So, keeping the receipt handy just in case my special snowflake can't get it together... might need to try something new! Any suggestions?

@kefttsc‌ that is so awesome! ;;) what a wonderful surprise!!
@chickenhawke‌ lol me too, before this I was like "I am going to kick pregnancy's a$$", work out, eat right....until I really WAS pregnant and it was more of a matter of what I could keep down and how little I could do bc of the tiredness! It took everything I had to not have cake for breakfast!!

  • Husband and I are going to Wisconsin for ten days, leaving this Wednesday! Can't wait! We're visiting friends, and going fishing (weather permitting) at Eagle River, and going to see the House on the Rock. It's still in the 90's here in NE FL, so the high 60's/low 70's of Wisconsin will be a welcome break until it finally starts to cool down over here.

  • Happy Sunday! @kefttsc That made my day reading about your surprise shower! :) What awesome friends you have!

The girls slept in until 8:15, but one kept me awake for at least 45 minutes at 4 a.m. I had to pee really bad, but she would fuss every time I moved to leave the bed...so I don't feel very rested. Hopefully they nap really long today. It's cloudy and chilly. Really want mulled apple cider. And Oreos.

  • Half way through my 4 day weekend of work and my back is killing me! Usually bed resets it and I wake up feeling decent. We'll have to see how tonight goes. I work in a nursing home, btw.... So lots of bending and lifting. But I try to protect my back.
  • Yesterday was the season kick off for the rugby league, so I went down to watch. I've already been asked to help coach this year. There's a fair amount of work to do and I think we're going to be missing a fair number of veterans this year.

This afternoon we're headed down to the beaxh for my gym's beach party! The weather is beautiful and I made a couscous salad to take with.

And my mom gets here tomorrow!

  • Starting work tomorrow, three 12 hour shifts in a row- will be interesting until I adjust.

Now to go grocery shopping, going to Wegmans for the first time to see what all the hype is about! Definitely buying some cotton candy grapes everyone was raving about a few weeks ago!

Hope everyone has a great Sunday!
  • I'm so glad that everyone is full of good news. @modernfairytale8709‌, growing up DH went to church every Sunday but I didn't. The way we handle religion is that we teach it. DH doesn't like going to church because he has the same memories of church that YH does which has caused him to have more agnostic beliefs. He also refuses to go to a church that wouldn't accept his brother (his brother's gay) and his brother's fiancé. We live in GA so finding gay friendly churches can be difficult. I love the idea of community it and positivity it encourages so we're working on it.

  • Hallelujah! Boob problems solved, ladies! I knew this bra was the one: https://www.motherhood.com/Product.asp?Product_Id=984220515&MasterCategory_Id=MC13

I put it on and immediately felt so much better. It's less supportive than some of my other bras, but it gets the job done. My boobs have been aching so much again lately and they are growing, and this bra is both really gentle AND gives me more room to grow. I got a large in both blush and black, and they fit my 36DD+ very nicely. I am somewhere between DD and DDD now. Soon to be DDD, for sure.

Now to clean the kitchen. I can't tell you how excited I am to actually be COMFORTABLE again.

Now I'm making brownies from scratch. I've baked lots of things but never brownies. I'll report back once I've baked and tasted them.

  • I think I may have started nesting. For some reason, I got a surge of energy this morning. I went grocery shopping, cleaned out my closet, reorganized it, cleaned the bathroom, and did 2 loads of laundry! This is very unlike lazy me.

I'm sure this will subside tomorrow morning when I groan at the alarm to go to work!

  • Grocery shopping is done. DH even agreed to icee pops so that he won't have to go spend 3 bucks every time I get a craving and stopped at steak'n'shake to get me a milkshake even though I ordered pizza for dinner last night. Yay!

My fast food urges have been breaking the ridiculous, useless plan I had for pregnancy weight gain. I told myself I would not go over a certain weight until after 20 weeks (like I can really control what my body holds into) and I went over at 19 weeks and 4 days. Close enough.

Genius: I was craving hash browns for breakfast (thanks guys) but had none, and I wasn't about to go out. But I DID have a giant bag of tater tots in the freezer. Turns out tots are perfect for dipping in eggs.

Not so genius: I signed up for (and paid for) a drop in prenatal yoga class at 4pm today. But now I just want to lay on the couch, watch football, and eat chili. I'm just trying to decide if that's worth $16.
