What a dad can't do with only having girls.

I saw this on fb this morning and thought I'd share, after seeing a couple gender disappointment being mentioned a couple times.

  • I love that! My DD gets her dad down in the floor to play dolls or dress up and then they'll go outside and toss a baseball in the next minute. I love watching them together :)

  • @jc51723‌ I agree! The other day my DH was trying to teach E how to hold a hockey stick, then they went inside and has a tea party!
  • Great list he made. My girls play in the dirt wear jeans play with toys... Of any kind! And excel at sports even over most boys. Their father took them to play any sport and i never ever said oh honey you cant have that toy thats for boys! Only difference is they usually look great while doing it :p
  • This is great! What a concept letting kids be who they are and like what they want to like!
  • Love this. The idea of my husband and daughter going out for a beer in 20 years makes me so happy.
  • This makes me smile. We have one of each right now, but I know that my husband is beyond thrilled that he has a little girl!

  • This is perfect. As a little girl I couldn't wait for football Sunday and I still have the fishing rod my dad bought me before I can even remember. We still do the same things together, just with more beer haha. I look forward to doing the same things with my little girl.

  • When I saw the title of this thread, I was all ready to come and defend that girls can do "boy" things and boys can do "girl" things. I was so happy to see that you had shared an article that discussed that exactly!! Whew. ;-)

    This is great!

As a mom to (soon to be) 2 boys, I can see that dad's perspective from the other side. I'm glad he's raising his daughters to know that they can play with whatever toys they want, do whatever sports they want, and be anything they want to be.
  • I could only think of one thing.... and it didnt even make the list! "Teach my son to write his name in the snow (with pee)" I will admit that my dad was over the moon to get a son 16 years after me. But we fished and I helped with car repair, and I dont think he missed out on too much in that 16 years ;-)

  • What a cute article. My brother and SIL have a three year old daughter with another daughter on the way. He is perfectly happy with his girls. I grew up with two older brothers and was the only girl in the neighborhood for years and I played with both boys and girls toys. Whatever makes a kid happy!
