I think that not boycotting the NFL is the same as going to Chick-Fil-a they are both essentially giving money to people who perpetuate shitty ideals. DD will be getting a hate nugget tray for her birthday this weekend.

I have no idea what's going on in the NFL because I don't follow it at all.  So no NFL or Chick-Fil-A in my house.  I'm apparently an accidental protester?

Seriously? Ray Rice? Ring a bell? Girl get on a news site.

    This has so much potential.

While I agree with the sentiment it is a lot easier to boycott CFA than the NFL. the NFL is so wrapped up in peoples lives that it is not as simple as just "stop watching the games".

See for me it's easier to not watch the NFL. Either way I don't care if people boycott either but in my mind they are the same thing.

    I aim to please.
  • Okay you missed my point. I mean going to or watching games. And honestly I live in the home of "Americas Team" and it wouldn't be that hard to pretty much not support the NFL at all.
  • Glad to know I'm consistent lol! Never been to CFA, but partly because I had never seen one before moving this summer. And I hate football so I have never intentionally supported the NFL.

That said, even I know about the Ray Rice situation. I'm horrified by the situation and hope he spends the rest of his life behind bars. Sadly I know that won't happen. Since that level athlete is a role model I do think he should lose his job for this. I open he loses everything. And I hope his wife finds the strength to get away before he murders her.

I wave my hypocrite flag high with the NFL even way before Ray Rice.  I mean, I would throw myself in from of a truck before I even let my kids touch a football and still watch.
    So much this.

And I won't boycott watching the games, but none of my money goes to them as I don't buy tickets or gear, etc. Peyton Manning shouldn't have to suffer because of this, he needs to me cheer for him.
  • Like I said I don't care what people do and don't boycott but I don't think you (general you) have any right to sit on a high horse about people not boycotting CFA if you are still going to games.

    I agree
I'll agree to disagree.  I think there is a difference between a company who basically has a corporate policy of "gay people aren't equal" and who spends money supporting that cause, and what is happening in the NFL.

The comparison would be the NFL spending millions of dollars teaching men to beat women and throwing money at politicians who want to pass laws that let men smack women around.

And it pains be to defend the NFL here, because I think they essentially fucked this up from a PR stand point, but aren't their hands tied to an extent if he isn't charged with a crime?  Where is the outrage with law enforcement?

you are giving money to a company that knowingly paid money to a wife beater, a killer, an animal killer. The list goes on and on. Both them and CFA show they are giving money without any regard to values or morals.
  • Lol I actually agree with you about Vick. I will go a step further to say I an disgusted by the lack of outrage over Brant compared to Vick. When did we start valuing the life of dogs more than people?

The difference Amy is sure the pizza place waiter might be a wife beater, but the NFL KNOWINGLY kept him on payroll.
  • I agree with Amy to an extent. I do think they willfully turned a blind eye to the whole event though and then got caught doing so. Would the sanctions have been increased without the public outcry over the video? I don't think so.
I don't like football. I love boxing and am excited about Saturday.

He most likely has already lost everything. The NFL does not guarantee salaries other than signing bonus. If he had endorsement deals before he sure won't now. The only money he will have is what is in his bank account and I doubt he paid cash for all his property/expenses so he probably owes more than he has coming in. The Ravens don't owe him a dime.

This video was sent 5 months ago. He has been receiving money this whole time. Otherwise you would be correct.
  • I can't put Michael Vick on my list of people to give a shit about. Worse things happen to people every minute of the day.
  • CFA - Getting a diet lemonade from them is my guilty pleasure.

Michael Vick - Is a disgusting human being.  The fact that he was allowed to return to the NFL is ridiculous.

But it's totes cool that Josh Brant can? Bullshit. Can someone please answer me when we stared valuing animals over humans

  • Yes I need to know people are more disgusted by someone killing a human than a dog. Sorry I should have phrased my comment better. There was massive outrage about Vick returning and like nothing about Brant it rubs me the wrong way.
  • Like I said I don't care what people do and don't boycott but I don't think you (general you) have any right to sit on a high horse about people not boycotting CFA if you are still going to games.

I like this comparison. It reminds me of when catholic friends give up something they rarely partake in for lent but yet act like they're making some dramatic gesture of sacrifice.

  • I thought he was charged and took a plea? What about all the guys playing in the NFL that have not only been charged but convicted? DH and I would both be unemployed if we commuted a crime and we earn a lot less money and are not public role models.
  • I think the outrage rice and Vick is greater than with brant not because they are dont value the human life but because it was an accident. Rice and Vick acted in an intentional manner. Brant's accident was perpetuated by a series of incredibly stupid decisions that resulted in the loss of his teammates life. I'm not excusing it. Like you said if DH or I did any of these things we would lose our jobs and all of these men should have too.......I'm just trying to explain why you see the discrepancy. Also, I do think people value animals, particularly dogs, more than humans. I just can't with all the suffering dogs Facebook posts. Someone in my feed posted about the heroic people saving dogs left behind in the Ukraine. Omfg there are real people being hurt, killed, injured, displaced.....it's fucking weird

  • This is why, as a parent, I don't perpetuate the "sports stars as role model" thing...bc obvs it's bullshit. What did Rupert Murdoch do with the livelyhood of people? I thought he just spied? Are we talking Madoff here? He's a fucking sociopath.
  • @jellybellystarr I thought I like totally missed something horrible he did! LOL
  • Giada at Home... I can't. I'll watch Food Network all day but I can't stand to watch her. Ugh. If something is crunchy she has to chomp with her mouth wide open! "Listen how crunchy" CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP

I hate her smile. I feel like she's trying to make her teeth a billboard for the benefits of flossing.
OMGosh. I'm laughing so freaking hard. This reminds me of a comment DH made about her. It was so wrong but I legit almost peed my pants.

  • Mason jars are ugly. I saw a tutorial on Pinterest for making one into a hand soap dispenser. Just, why?

Lauren Conrad is overrated. So, so dull. Is that even an UO? I feel like I see her everywhere and I don't get why.

I swear she has T-Rex arms. They seem too short for her body.
DH does a pretty good impersonation of her that involves trying to reach pots and pans with her tiny T. Rex arms lol! All the individual mason jars on pinterest are stupid. If I am going to go to the trouble of making homemade banana pudding or whatever, I'm not going to put it in mason jars. I cannot imagine serving them, I think my family would laugh!

I don't believe that most people can tell the difference between cheap and expensive wine. Brought to you by my annoyance with DH's friend who is super particular about coffee, wine, cheese, cigars, meat, etc, etc, etc. Just shut up, drink some $8 wine and eat some Brie and enjoy yourself! There.
Truth: I've had both Don Perignon and Spumante Bambino and I like the cheap stuff 100x better.

Wrong. You can, but you might like the cheap shit or not care, but there is an obvious difference.

Preach. When her show came on (and before I could turn it) I really think she had on like a sweat suit. The top had a zipper that she had zipped down and her McTitties were out. Yeah, that did nothing for me lol

I'm watching Pioneer Woman and somehow it reminded me of the episode where she had her dad and stepmom over for a steak dinner. At the end of the show she took a steak bite from Ladd and said "I wish you'd greet me with a a chunk of meat!"

    Dead.
    =))

  • When I lived at home and my parents would watch Food Network, I liked Giada. Guess that's my UO. :) Haven't seen her show in at least five years.

The person who annoyed me most was the Barefoot Contessa.  /:)
