I ask because my daughter freaking loves carrot cake, and wants it for her birthday party cake. I wasn't sure if that was a flavor that many people like.
I thought this was going to be a poll about the options - raisins or not, nuts or not, cream cheese icing or some inferior type.
For the record, the right answer is NO raisins, YES nuts (walnuts or pecans), and YES cream cheese icing.
One hundred percent correct!! I typically just put nuts sprinkled on the frosting, not in the cake...but I love the extra crunch for the texture. It is my favorite cake (next to cheesecake of course)...give me carrot over chocolate or vanilla any day. I am making banana nut bread with a cream cheese frosting and pecans tomorrow (bananas either have to be made into bread or thrown in the composter...we apparently did not get our potassium intake last week. Now I just want carrot cake.
Yes! With walnuts, coconut and pineapple, and of course, cream cheese frosting. It was my first birthday cake and will be for this kidlet too. I use the Silver Palate recipe.
No coconut, no pineapple. Sorry.
I like them in hummingbird cake but not carrot cake.
Funny enough, it was someone's bday at the office today and they had a carrot cake here. I'm not big on carrot cake though, or cake at all for that matter. I really only like white cake and then I just eat the cake part and skip the frosting. However, olive garden's lemon cream cake is delicious.
