Don't even tell me someone has a problem with uniforms. Uniforms are gifts from sweet baby Jesus.

No we were just using them as a point to the whilhow dare the school tell my kid what to eat.

  • I've been a teacher so I'm familiar with how schools work. You can't say you wouldn't feel bad for your kid if they couldn't eat any of the same treats as their friends. The reality of having my child being left out of things is harder than I ever thought it would be. A lot of kids aren't as nice about differences as I would hope. Because I deal with this I would prefer no group snacks and parents just handle their own kids. Obviously I am aware this is not realistic. Doesn't make it any easier. This might be a sore spot for me because of my inlaws being very mean about eating treats and giving them to DS (when I'm not looking) and saying too bad so sad to DD. I've been lucky with understanding friends but a recent week with my inlaws has left me a little sensitive to DD feelings
Sounds like your ILs are really shitty people. Who does that to their grandchild?
  • I've never attended a school that required uniforms. So I can't comment on my feelings on them, I guess I've never thought about it one way or another. But I suppose the reason for a dress code is so that kids aren't wearing distracting clothing. I fail to see how my kid eating fruit snacks at the lunch table is going to impede someone else's learning like, say, him wearing a Spiderman costume to school would.

    Fucking snacks

You sound like my DH - I swear the kids eat a second banana and he goes BSC while I'm all like "throw the peel in the trash!"...

Your husband doesn't like when your kids eat a banana?

It's not "A" that he gets in a huff about, it's when they have more than that of any food in the course of the day (say a Banana for breakfast and then sometime in the afternoon they want another for a snack).  One of his food rules is you can't have the same item twice in the span of 24 hours...  It's just a quirk he's got that's annoying as hell that I do my best to NOT get my kids in the habit of doing (it makes leftovers a challenge when he's around).  I don't care if I have ham with breakfast and ham for supper, but that would drive DH bonkers and he'd have to go find something else for himself to eat.
