I LOVE books. DS has a library of around 50 board books passed down from his big sis. he LOVES lift the flap books. He also loves the llama llama board books. we read two books each night at bedtime and i try to read during the day also. I was letting him "play' with the books but I wasnt paying attention (doing dishes) and he starting EATING the board book, like the cardboard was all mushy and pieces were in his mouth. oops. so now I supervise the books.
LO is OBSESSED with "brown bear brown bear" with the slide and find. She loves sliding it open..over and over. She's also into a Karen Katz flap book as well.... If I show her any other book she pushes it away and hunts for her 2 favorites *She loves the flap book MAINLY because she's been ripping some of the flaps off, and I assume she wants to continue this.
I got C some of those plastic bath books (except we don't use them in the bath). She loves to play with them. She has one about a baby duck going swimming and another one. If she puts them in her mouth it's fine because they are plastic.
We've been reading one book before bed each night. He seems to like the Very Hungry Caterpillar and those books that have the little finger puppets. He also loves Eight Silly Monkeys.
LO loves to chew on Peek a Boo Forest, the cloth book. It will definitely get thrown away when she's done with it. Plus my husband sounds like Christopher Walken when he reads it and it creeps me out.
I love the Brown Bear books and the Llama Llama books! Peek a boo Sophie is okay but it's no Goodnight Moon, that's for sure.
If you haven't already, check into the availability of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library through your local United Way. From birth to 5 years of age your child can receive 1 free book delivered monthly via USPS. ALL children from ALL income levels are qualified for this program... as long as your local area offers the program.
We moved last year just 10 miles outside of the area that offered it, so they dropped my son's subscription, but it really is a great program. When he got a little older, he looked forward to getting his monthly book in the mail.
I'm super into the Sandra Boyyon board books, but especially Snuggle Puppy. Guys! You need Snuggle Puppy. It's the most sing-songy, shmaltzy bedtime book of all time.
DD likes books that rhyme. One of the very first times I ever heard her laugh was when I was reading the "who sews sue's socks?" rift in Fox in Socks by Dr. Suess. She also loves any touch and feels.
We found something white and mushy in her mouth yesterday and could NOT figure it out! It was the board books... Supervised books here now too.
Fox in Socks is no joke. I get so tongue twisted every time I try to read it:). I figured out my DD loves the DK Touch and Feel books. She can eat the cover and it doesn't seem to peel off in her mouth the way most board books do. The only one I have now is Baby Touch and Feel Roar! Roar!

She does like the "That's not my" series.

Just a PSA I thought was relevant on this thread:

My 2 December boys
That's Not My Frog... (Usborne Touchy-Feely Books) https://www.amazon.com/dp/0794525059/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_RIWdub1CMXAW2
She also really likes If I Were an Owl: https://www.amazon.com/Jellycat%C2%AE-Board-Books-were-Owl/dp/B008MAIHBO/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1410272295&sr=1-1-catcorr&keywords=If+I+were+an+owl+book. She loves touch and feel books, especially ones that have rough textures. She prefers to touch things that are rough and scratchy than soft and fuzzy. My child is strange.
