Is the name George Joseph too much of a tongue twister?

So with the help of the wonderful ladies on the BN board I think I have come up with a girl name. YAY! We like Alice Elaine (Elaine is my mom's middle name). I would love to honor my mom who passed away a few years ago but I don't want to use her first name (Sandra).

For a boy we like George and my husband just suggested Joseph as a middle name. Ironically, my dad's middle name is Joseph (my husband had no clue when he suggested it). We could also do Walter, my dad's first name.

Back to my question....does George Joseph sound alright together?

I think they sound fine together.  First and middle names are not commonly spoken together in day to day conversation so I'm of the opinion that FN/MN flow is not a big deal.  This is even more ok when the MN is honoring a family member.  I think the meaning of the name outweighs any awkwardness.  I would rather my child tell someone their middle name and be able to remember/speak of their grandfather, etc.

That being said, I love the name Walter.  It is my DS2's MN (my grandfather's name).

I do not think you can go wrong either way.

Ok I'm going to go against the grain here and say they're not the best combo. I like George Walter better. :)

  • OOOOH, just realized we could have a George W....well not Bush, but our last name does start w/ B. That is if we went with Walter.

I would go with the version that is easiest to yell. George Walter does seem easier to yell together. I love your 2 older boys names, too.

  • I think George Walter sounds better than George Joseph. I like that you are using family names.

I also started singing that tune that pp's did with George Joseph!

  • I'm having a hard time saying George Joseph clearly...so my vote is for George Walter. All are good, strong names though, great choices!

  • We have a George Paul, so I'm partial to George anyhow :) After some debate in choosing his middle name, we went with the one that meant the most. I'd suggest using the name that will mean the most. Middle names should (IMO) be chosen for a reason not just because they sound good.

P.S. we call our George either Georgie or Georgeous

Yes! George Walter it is!! This is such a relief. With my second son we didn't have a name for him until after he was born!

Thank you all for your help! XOXO
