Babies aren't here yet but already get the "You'll have your hands full!" a lot. 90% of the comments are positive, people have been thrilled to hear when we say they're twins. I'm not out much, though, due to strict bedrest.

You know how people tell you it gets better as the kids get older? Well, it does. Sort of.

We still get comments along the lines of "are those twins?" to which I want to say, "Are those twins what?" and, "How do you tell them apart?" pretty much any time we're out. But, it's better because we're not usually rushing around, people aren't reaching into a stroller to touch them or anything.

It's crappy when they're older because the KNOW people are talking about them. The girls ask every time, "why do people always ask us stuff?!" I haven't gotten any really rude comments in years though!

My babies are still on the inside, but after finding out I'm having b/g twins a lady asked if they are identical. Um...no. One has a penis, the other has a vagina. B/g twins can not be identical. The lady looked at me like I was crazy.

When someone thinks they are a boy and a girl, I always wonder which they think is a girl. The smaller one?

I love when someone says something nice and unexpected or just tells me I'm lucky. Yes, I am!

"Double trouble" is the one that's like nails on a chalkboard to me. I don't know if it's the cutesy rhyme, the sentiment behind it, or the smug faces people get like they freaking coined the phrase....

I must say, though, I really don't have many complaints when it comes to strangers. My experiences have been more positive than negative overall.

I've made it abundantly clear on here just how much I detest the "you've got your hands full" people. I still get that more than anything else, but lately I'm getting a lot more "they're not twins, are they?" followed by a whole list of reasons why they can't be twins (she's bigger! Their eyes are different colors! She has so much more hair!). And I swear, at least once a week I get some idiot asking if they're triplets. Seriously, who can't tell the difference between a three year old and a one year old?!

Now that they're toddlers, I get a lot of "are they twins?"

Once they figure out that they twins are boys and my oldest is a boy, it then defaults to "whoa all boys! You must have your hands full!"

Lots of "you have your hands full" and "they're not twins are they". There's a 4 lb difference between them so people are always amazed that they're twins. About a month ago Someone actually asked me if they were 1.5 years and 3 months. I just said no... Both are 8 months.

Mine aren't here but I've gotten the:

"better you than me" (it'll be challenging but fun)
"I don't know anyone with twins" (now you do

)
"do twins run in the family" (why, yes, yes they do)
"are they identical" (no, they are b/g, they can't be)

I haven't gotten annoyed yet but I'm sure that is coming.

Oh, the other one that I get a lot is: "were you surprised," and I usually just say that we weren't expecting twins.

My response to are they identical is "Yep, down to his penis!" It's seriously the dumbest question. They don't look alike, my DD has brown hair and brown eyes and DS has strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes. Their features are also really different.

I don't usually get annoyed. But the 'are they identical' really gets me, especially since we have g/b twins. And I've been asked this by well educated people!

We do get a lot of attention while out though. My BFF was very surprised the first time we went out together and she had her baby. She was not used to all the attention.

I never get the "Are they identical" question anymore, even though they're both boys, because they look nothing alike. But if I did get that question, I think I'd probably just answer with, "SOMETIMES".

I'm one of those people that everyone talks to. So weird. Here's the negative I've gotten

Went to a movie last night and the guy told me to enjoy it because "you're not going to see another adult movie in yrs".
I've gotten "was it planned" to people seeing I'm pregnant.
"Ugh, better you than me, double trouble, you're f*d, your life is over, that's going to suck". All from Strangers!!!!

To be fair I've gotten plenty of positive comments from perfect strangers too

My answer to double trouble is usually "twice the fun" or "yup! Should be fun!"
Can't wait to hear the comments once they are actually born.

We get lots of positive comments. I've only heard the "are they identical" question once. I clarified that they are boy / girl. There's usually a lot of smiles and people poking each other to point them out.

I'm 35w today and still two weeks away from my scheduled c-section at 37w but the one thing it seems everyone says that's getting to me- "You don't look big enough for twins!" Really? 3 days ago I measured 45 weeks at the OB's office, exactly how big do you think I should be?

I think people expect you to look like the girl from willie wonks who turns into a blueberry haha. People who knew I was having twins were always surprised by how small I was but people who didn't know I was having twins gave me looks like I was gigantic(which I was)

In general I don't get too annoyed with people unless I am clearly in a rush and they are holding me back. I have two that kind of annoy me though. "Are they twins" - yes. Clearly they are twins. Then, once that is established, "A boy and a girl?" nope, two girls. Identical girls. Pretty much unless both babies are dressed head to toe in pink, they assume one is a boy. I find this very strange.

I get the "double trouble" and "you've got your hands full" almost every time I go somewhere. (I have twin boys). It doesn't usually bother me so I just say "yep". I do get the "are they identical?" Or "they must be identical" all the time. They are fraternal, But to be fair they do look A LOT alike. I always love when those few people say "aw you're so lucky!". And of course every single person asks "are they twins???" When they are dressed the same and are the exact same size! It's pretty funny. Generally though I don't usually get any rude or negative comments when I go somewhere. I just get stopped a lot! Makes grocery shopping a long event!

When I was pregnant I got "do twins run in your family". Well my grandma had triplets, so sort of. Strangers don't need to know how they were conceived. I get a boy & a girl? Maybe because if he colors of the car seats and "are they identical". To me, they look NOTHING alike, their heads are different shapes, their eyes are different, mouths, etc. the best was at target though .... I had my girls dressed in link & turquoise. Each had a hair bow, but one bow was a bluish color. The lady asked if they were twins, then asked if they were b/g and when I answered they were both girls, she proceeded to say she thought the one was a boy because it was wearing a blue hair bow. Really?!?!? Why would I put a hairbow on a boy?

Totally agree - "You have your hands full!" Followed with, "Are they both boys?" No, a boy and a girl. "ARE THEY IDENTICAL???" I just said they were a boy and a girl, LOL

I get this one a lot. And similarly, "you're so lucky!" when they hear it's B/g. As if I wouldn't be with two of the same.

I am lucky, not because I have one of each, but because I have two healthy babies!

I've gotten this a handful of times too. "Oh, it must be nice to be done all in one shot." "Oh, so you're done now, right?" I look at them like they've just sprouted another head and say something like "No, I *definitely* want more children." or "Who said I'm done?" (The second usually in a snippy voice.) Shuts them up right away and you can see them struggling with the foot they've just shoved into their mouth.

I get this, too. But we are done so it doesn't really bother me. However, I usually make it clear to these people that our decision not to have another child has nothing to do with the fact that we have b/g twins.

The one I find the funniest is when I'm in a group of moms or at a playground and I clearly tell someone they are fraternal and they ask, "I know you are their mom so you can, but HOW do you tell them apart??"

Uhm. They are different people and look totally different!
