3 month old feeding less?

Hi all I'm confused as to why my little boy refuses to eat like he usually does. There are times he screams and pulls away. I guess he's not hungry...and he's sleeping a ton the past few days. Could he be sick? I'm worried he's not eating enough. He does meet the daily dirty diapers though. I'm just surprised at this sudden change of appetite. Any suggestions or experience?

Re: 3 month old feeding less?

  • When my daughter turned three months she went through a similar thing. She went from taking both boobs to just one at each feeding and had a solid weekend where she just slept. Only woke up to eat, I was a little worried but I think it was just a growth spurt. Some babies sleep more when they are either getting ready for a spurt or going through one. But now (3.5 months) she's back to eating from both sides and taking short naps. I would enjoy the extra sleep while you can ;-)

  • My son has been doing the same thing for the last few days..... he's 14 weeks. We were feeding every 3 hours, so I'm wondering if he doesn't need to eat so often? We are also weaning off daytime nursing sessions as I prepare to go back to work, so I was thinking he preferred the bottle over the boob? I'm so confused!!

  • @purtz‌ this is totally us! Maybe they're just not hungry and that's why they scream? I just want to make sure he's getting enough. You can tell how many ounces with a bottle but not breast!
