I was having a discussion with my single brother the other day about how post college dating is sporadic and dicey at best...He favors joining some sort of club/hobby and meeting people that way. I say, date-able people at darts? Bowling?

Unlikely.

So tell me, where did you meet DH?

God that seems so nerdy being typed out. In my defense, we met when I was 14 and he was 17. After two years of chatting online, we started dating long distance. I graduated and moved to where he lived (no brainer for us. I didn't get along with my family). We just happened to really click and have always enjoyed being together.

Funnily enough, DH just met another couple from work that plays D3 together as well and they met on wow

I worked in a liquor store and he delivered beer... He was "the miller guy" in my phone forever.

Eta: I thought he was hot for weeks before I plucked up the courage to give him my number. Before I could, however, he smacked me on the ass while in the beer cooler. I still gave him my number, lol

We were at the same New Year's Eve party (2005 turning to 2006). His roommate was the DJ hosting the party. My friend won tickets and ended up getting sick, so she gave them to me. I met him outside while waiting for a ride home, and it was technically 2006 by that point. He invited us to an after party, we went, and then he ditched his friends for a 3am Carrow's meal with my friends and me.

High school. Auditions for the spring musical my sophomore year, his freshman year. We had a friend in common and I was chatting with the friend and he came up to chat with him as well. We were good friends and it was totally platonic for a few years (and I even set him up with a few girls) until I asked him to go to my prom with me because I didn't have a boyfriend. We kissed that weekend and have been together since!

Online. We found out after we started dating that we actually had two mutual friends (one being my choir director that DH still plays music w/) but, unless said friends had set us up, I don't see how our paths would have crossed otherwise as we didn't live super close back then.....

DH was the sous chef at a place I served at while getting my masters degree. I didn't like him at first. But we went out a couple times in a group setting & he grew on me. We moved kind of fast. I had just gotten out of an 8 year relationship. He had just gotten out of a 5 year one. I started falling for him & pushed him away but he dug his way back in & we've been together ever since

A guy who was interested in me invited me to a games night his friend group was having and DH was there. I first officially met him in the elevator up to the host's apartment. It was a few more months before we actually got to know each other though... we ended up volunteering for the same children's organization later that year and were assigned at random to caring for the same age group.

Online. It is really hard to meet people, not so much after college but after your party, bar hopping days are over. For me that was whe. I was 26:/ no problem dating until them but it all losers. 26-28 was a 2 year drought where I didn't meet anyone- I was a special ed teacher who didn't really go out any more.

It was my 25th birthday and I had knee surgery the day before. I live alone in a tiny apartment. My friend was coming over to heat up dinner for me. (Ever try to fix a meal and carry a plate on crutches?)

So, My friend was dating his friend. They had spent the afternoon at the bar drinking and she brought the guys with her to help me with dinner. They didn't say much at the time.

I played softball that summer with her boyfriend and now DH. It was 2 months later that DH and I got together.

After the fact I hear that DH told my friend, "You have to go warm up dinner for a grown woman?!" He was not amused in the least.

The first time - at a drunken party. He was supposed to be a one night stand. We wound up dating for a few months and then broke up and don't speak for 5 years then (2nd time) I found him on Myspace. Yay for internet stalking!

High school. My friend introduced us right after telling me "only bad thing is he has a gf". The first words I said to him were " you should break up with your gf and date me". He did and we have been together ever since.

Middle school. My first memory of him was the tour of the school I took prior to transferring there. I was sitting at his table in science class and they were taking a quiz. He had the audacity to not erase completely (which is a huge pet peeve if mine). He is lucky I was able to overlook this huge character flaw. :x

Through church. He was a high school leader on my retreat sophomore. He was the hot senior we all had crushes on. He's doesn't even remember our first conversation... Two years later, our paths crossed again when we gave purity talks at our church. Talk about irony...

I never did meet men at college, probably because I went to music school and most of the men there were gay. I did do the club scene in my early 20s and met my first H at a bar, but that didn't work out so well even though we had an amazing time dating. After that sad time in my life all I was doing was working and going home. I was a bit of a hermit so I decided I needed to make friends and get out there again.

So that's when I decided to join yahoo personals for 1 month. So many men sent me ice breakers and it was all very overwhelming. DH was very persistent so I couldn't forget him. His very first email to me made me laugh SO much, which at the time I needed. I was very intrigued. I agreed to a first date after we emailed back and forth and he called me when he said he would. I did have a lot of anxiety that day of the date. He had it all planned out - nice dinner and an acrobatic show. Afterwards we went out for a drink, he was such a gentleman. We continued to date and he never went away, always called me and was always there. I knew I would never have to worry about him and he was becoming my best friend. 9 months later he proposed and 4 months later we married. It's been fabulous!

They went to college together for a year. And he was in town visiting, and I she dragged me along so he wouldn't get the wrong (they hooked up the last time they saw one another). Turns out he was awesome, and way more my type than hers
