There will be champagne at the hospital, but afterwards it will most likely be a full red wine, and I'll work my way back to a filthy vodka martini, which will inevitably knock me out.

I've sort of been fantasizing about a giant Scorpion Bowl from some Chinese restaurant all to myself. Since DH's accident, I've never missed alcohol so much in my life. God, that sounds awful, but yet, it's true.

It'll probably be a glass of wine in the hospital, though. Our hospital does this fancy dinner with real dishes and glasses and candles and everything in your room, and it includes wine, and we will hopefully do that again.

A nice sweet, bubbly moscato.

But I'm one of those that believe that I can have a half glass right now if I really wanted to. I just haven't had the urge, really. I had a small glass on my birthday in March, and another one with friends in June.

All the pumpkin ales are making me want those, too, though.

So many yummy sounding drinks but I'm thinking just a nice glass of red wine (Pinot or a Malbec). Before pregnancy I used to indulge in that a few times a week after a particularly long work day and that is what I miss.

An amazing northern michigan wine!!! We bought 20 bottles of our favorites from the wineries 2 weeks before finding our I was pregnant. They have been sitting there teasing me for 8 months!

P.S. I'm so glad you started this thread because all of the judgies last time this was discussed turned me off. Alcohol is not the devil, and yes I can be excited about both a glass of wine and my newborn.

OH MAN! I normally don't even drink alcohol that much but for whatever reason I have been hard core craving sweet alcoholic drinks all pregnancy.

I'm dreaming of a nice black cherry mojito at the moment. That sounds like a good one for after this baby comes around. Now we'll see if I can handle it. We also have mango wine in our fridge that I have been waiting to open since right before we found out we were pregnant.

I'm not a big drinker (maybe once or twice a year) but as soon as I "can't" have it, I want it soooooooo bad! Mine will probably be a margarita and I will be trashed off one. I remember my first drink after having dd and I was so drunk because my body wasn't used to alcohol after so long.

My daughter had her birthday party at Dave & buster ' s in may and they had so many yummy looking drinks! I may go there at some point too, but a margarita is definitely first in my list!

What is considered reasonable? Because I want a Guiness in the hospital. But we'll see if I REALLY want it that bad.

I'll be having a Headytopper that we saved from our wedding gift bags. Then Malbec or whatever people gift us with when they visit (they do bring wine right???).

As to when, I will probably have DH bring in a bottle of hard cider to the hospital on the 2nd day and split it with him. Maybe even give some to my Mom as well (as she likes to have some on occasion). I have never been a big drinker, so I normally end up splitting any alcohol I get with DH.

isn't one glass (wine/beer) acceptable after feeding your LO? Wouldn't it metabolize through your system and out pretty quickly? I want wine ASAP but I have a feeling I wont feel human or up to it for a couple weeks at least

In my breast feeding class the nurse said that it was fine to have a cocktail with a large meal after feeding your LO. It shouldn't affect them unless you are binge drinking or having multiple. She also said that she would never suggest pumping and dumping that you can save that milk and dilute it with other stored milk. I don't know how I feel about that one, but I guess everyone has different comfort levels.

My MIL moved a few months ago and unloaded all this crazy weird booze and liquors on us. I'm not a huge drinker at all, but I plan on playing bartender and seeing if any magic happens. Then i'll probably just open up my favorite pinot grigio and fall asleep.

I won't discriminate. I want all the alcoholic beverages.
In all honesty, I'm most excited for a pumpkin ale, a bloody mary, a full glass of red wine and brandy old fashion sweets with olives.

This is what I'm talking about! I had been craving an IPA for a long time but DH's birthday was Friday and he got a "make your own six pack" of a bunch of good fall/pumpkin beers. I was insanely jealous! My first beer will probably be Southern Tier Pumpking. It comes in 22oz bottle and is almost 9%, so maybe I'll just drink half.

Oh man, I'm excited!
