Car Seat -where is it in your car?

We've always had it in the center. We just got the Graco 4ever and its nice and so much more comfortable for A. We put her in it and she just kept turning around looking at it like and smiling. But its a little big and harder to get her out when its attached in center. Fire station that installed our seat and did training on it said center is best. where do you have it installed?

  • Behind passenger seat.

  • Behind driver, because our civic doesn't have LATCH in the middle and we move it often enough that it's important for us to be able to install correctly very quickly.

  • Behind the passenger seat.

My car (Subaru Outback) actually recommends the outboard installation (is that the right way to say it?) over the center installation, I assume due to how the seats are shaped back there.  You might want to look at your car's manual to see what it says on the subject.

  • Behind the passenger seat. Because of how the nextfit is shaped, it was really hard on my back to get him out when he was in the middle. While he is rear facing he'll be behind the passenger seat.

  • We have captains chairs so there's one on each side.

I'm not new. I just hate The Bump.

Behind driver, for the same (but opposite) reason above: I've been told it is the safest because drivers instinctually protect their own side of the car.

So funny how our areas aren't far from one another and say two different things. He told us most accidents occur on drivers side (even dh said that before FD told us) which is why passenger is safest. But yours makes sense too!
I've heard that younger/less experienced drivers tend to protect the driver's side more than other drivers. So I wonder if that is the reason that opinions vary so much.

  • I was told passenger side is safer especially if you have to parallel park.  The baby will be on the sidewalk side and not by moving traffic.

  • I drive a Honda pilot and ds2 is behind the passenger seat. Ds1 is front facing and I've heard that behind the driver's seat is he safest so I put him there. A rear facing child is pretty safe wherever so he went behind the passenger. I do have latch capability in the middle but I didn't want ds1 feeding his brother food items when he was little.

  • Behind the passenger seat. We need room for our dog on car trips.

  • Currently in the center but it's starting to get difficult in the Saturn so I might move to passenger until we get the blazer repaired and I'll put it in the center there

  • Center in my car because I drop Jack off at school most every morning and I have him sit on the passenger side. I don't like him sitting behind me because I don't want him to have to walk behind or in front of the car at drop off. Too many kids and too many cars. It is a pain because Will is so long it's difficult to get him in the seat. I was considering moving the seat to behind the driver...we'll see. It just seems safer in the center.

Behind the passenger in DHs car because that is what was recommended in his owners manual.

  • Behind the driver. My DD is behind the passenger to make school drop offs safer. When this new one comes I'm still trying to figure out logistics. Hopefully my FIL will have found us either a Tahoe or suburban with a third row so I can avoid 3 car seats in the back seat of my explorer.

  • Behind the passenger so we can get LO in and out without standing in the road with the door open when we park on the street (which is fairly often).
