What do you eat while pregnant?

Hi everyone!  This is our first baby, so I'm very new to all of this.

I don't see my doctor for another 2 weeks (I am only 4 weeks in right now), but I do want to start eating properly right away.  I know cold cuts are a no no.  I'm a teacher, so I always bring my lunches with me to work.  I'm looking for some healthy and simple lunch ideas.

Thanks!

  • Really?  I have always heard you cannot eat them from various moms because they could have "bacteria".  Now I'm totally confused haha

  • Alrighty then! Sorry for asking…. I guess?

  • Like I said.. I'm new to all of this, as many of you were at one point, and I haven't been to the doctor yet - that appointment is in two weeks.  I thought coming on the board to ask a simple question would be helpful and instead it just seems like my question was pretty much the worst question to ask.  I apologize.

  • Ghost - you're missing the point.  I am thinking of this as more of a "recipe swap" type of deal. What's so wrong with learning new things?  Not really sure what the big deal is??

  • Holy crap, leave her alone! I think she has a totally valid question. There are tons of different opinions out there on eating fish, lunch meat, MSG, undercooked items, I even had someone tell me not to eat poppy seeds before. Some of it is out there and far fetched. As a new mom, she has every reason to be curious if there are things she should and shouldn't eat and if you all, from experience, can debunk some of the no-no foods. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't comment! What do you gain from making people feel stupid for posting?

OMG, this is ridiculous! PPs DID debunk the myth. They gave her the facts and told her it was ok. What more do you want? A hand holding party? Get over yourself.

    This.

I private messaged you. Some of you really need to stop attacking new moms and women who are new to this site.

WK #2. Ya'll are busy today. And no one attacked her, BTW.

WAIT.  I can request one of these?

WQ - I wanna hold your hand!!  And sing The Beatles.  Together.  It will be amazing.

:x Any day, anytime! Just for you @Joy2611‌

Curious? Use google, pick up a mayo clinic guide to pregnancy. As it's been said, asking about menu variety is a lot different than what has gone on here.

You're not saying nice things either...so maybe take your own advice?

Alerting people to their spazz & need to calm the fuck down is vital. It helps them in the long term & prevents promotion of hysteria over food.

I promise this was, in no way, attacking OP. Calm your tits.

  • Re-read her post. It was a perfectly innocent, valid question.
    with some arm-flailing to boot.

You are not doing yourself or anyone else any good by trying to act above people and looking down upon their questions, passing judgment.
um, what? It is a good idea to tell people to stop fear mongering & relax.

This is supposed to be an amazing, happy time in every woman's life, especially a first time mom's. There is just no need for this. And all of you saying "Yeah, good, go, we don't want you here anyway..." WTF is this, Mean Girls? You all disgust me. I came over here from Baby Center to check out this forum and realize I am NOT missing out on anything. Unreal. OP seems to be the most mature one who has commented in this entire thread so far.

omg that explains it. You can go back to BC & take your crying with you. :-h

If everyone is just supposed to Google everything, WTF is the point of this forum? Is there a rule in the Terms of Use: Thou shalt not ask any question that can be answered through Google or else risk being subjected to ridicule.

TOU have nothing to do with using common sense before posting a stupid question. You seem confused on what TOU are for.

Lol you need to work on your reading comprehension, dear.

Your common sense seems to be lacking too.

    Who are you?
Should I take it as a compliment that you want to get to know me?
  • Alrighty then! Sorry for asking…. I guess?

If you go to your birth month board, it's much "nicer" there ;) the only dumb question is an unasked one.
I also do not eat cold cuts and this is my second pregnancy. I cook a lot of chicken and take salad to eat with if. Buy different salad dressings. I also make dinners that I don't mind heating up the next day too- I'm picky about that. And if I do want a good ol' sammich, heat it up first ;)
