Feeling Guilty!!

Re: Feeling Guilty!!

  • Not sure where you all came up with the idea of my husband being a city engineer.  Who would want to work for the city?  There is way more money working private and a lot more perks.  As well, there are a lot more engineers out there then civil engineers...which he is not.  My SIL is a civil engineer though, and she seemed to approve of our name in the driveway curb...to each their own.

Doesn't matter how big a house is...working from home doesn't mean lounging around in your pj's (for any career with money anyways).  He wears a suit because he is in video conference calls most the day.  Whether at home, the office, on client sites or traveling he wears a suit while working.

As for many of you not "getting it" I certainly didn't ask you all to get it.  But hey, glad I could fill your weekend with some fun.  Often we best learn by doing so go out and find some new cement and try it out...maybe then you'll 'get it'.

I am glad you have so much money, you should be getting a big fine anyway now. So good for you, you can keep vandalizing and paying the fines. What lesson are you teaching your children?

Are you 5? I cannot imagine carving my name in the cement after it's poured. We bought a house and the former owner's initials are down by the mailbox. I curse it every day. I have an acquaintance that built a house and I clutched my pearls that she let her girls put their initials in their new driveway.
If I found my kids carving in fresh cement I'd be furious. And yet, you did it. As a grown up.  Huh.
I wouldn't put it on the curb on a public street, but I don't see the problem with carving initials in the cement of your own driveway that you are paying for. My parents did it when they bought their house 25 years ago. It was maybe a 3x5 inch space, so not exactly dramatic.  The driveway has since been replaced a few times and our initials are long gone. No harm.

The old owners of our house notched out the wood for their kids heights in one of the doorways. I expect to find that sort of thing when buying a previously owned house.
This is why I said you were precdictable. Stop PMing me.
So I am just trying to figure out what got up your ass without bringing the whole board into it.  Since I still don't know what your problem is, I will continue on with my predictable ways.

And the love tits...pot meet kettle.

Fancy flamingos! My favorite part of this shit show is that according to OP her husband works from home for the city's engineering department and they defaced city property with his last name.

Don't forget the fact that her DH wears a fancy suit to work... at home. It must suck to have to wear a fancy suit to walk down the hall and sit in your home office all day. I wonder if he wears the same suit a few days in a row. And if he wears shoes or goes to work in just socks. So many unanswered questions!
    Emmakins/Lilly&Co is that you??? :P

Yep...that's us to a T.  We park our trailer out back of our 5bed, 4bath, 3600 sq foot house...luckily our 6 car driveway allowed us to squeeze the trailer around back on our the 1/3 acre lot.  The house is just a cover to hide our redneck selves...sadly the architechs about to design our soon to be pool say the trailer will haev to go :-(  When my husband finally gets out of his work suits he goes for the 'dorky' look over the classy look though.  Hard to want to be classy 24/7 when you need to be suited up to be senior director of your engineering company for your city.

I'll totally take immature though...we both have that going for us...that's what allows life to stay fun for us.

Look at the last sentence of your first paragraph of lies...right there is where I got the idea.

Yes, he's the senior director.  Of his engineering company. In our city.  His company is all over the world.  They have senior directors all over the world.  Doesn't make him a city engineer.  Means he is a senior director for our city...and the company has senior directors for all the other cities they are located in.  None of them are city engineers...they are just an engineer located in a city.  But hey, I can just be a liar if it makes you feel better about yourself for not being able to compute such details.

  • Ok, whatever you say. That's not what you wrote the first time, but hey maybe it was an honest mistake. But, why does he wear suits at home? We really need to know that.

Because when you are leading multi-million dollar projects and are on video conference calls all day with your clients you wear a suit.  Doesn't matter what office you are leading the calls from (home, local office or offices abroad), you wear a suit.

There was no mistake in what I first wrote...just many mistakes on your end. No worries, my kid is asleep so I can hang out and re-explain until you understand enough to not be too worked up about it.

  • I asked my husband who works for a general contractor.

    It does annoy him.

Unless they're staring at your H's crotch, there really would be no reason to wear a whole suit. Just a dress shirt and boxers. Duh!

So, if her driveway was only big enough to park a smart car it wouldn't be okay? Lucky her! Get it girl!
  • I quit my job to be home with my child and have more time for my husband.  Therefore, yes, I have no money (aside from the bit I will pocket from watching another child, starting in a few weeks).

My husband does have money.  Hence my abilty to quit my job.  We moved from two incomes to one income...doesn't matter how much he makes...it is wise to adjust the budget when going from one income to two incomes so we can maintain our current standard of living.  The reason we have money is because we are smart about it...therefore yes, I am attempting to budget our food knowing that this is where I spend the most of our money and knowing that I can easily improve there.

But you are all right...I'm a liar...in fact we don't even have a curb outside our house.  I am a 60 year old male, with no kids, living in a homeless shelter and I was merely trying to see how many stay at home moms I could annoy.  Go me, I win.

(aside from the previous paragraph stating I am a male nothing I've posted in this thread is a lie)  As I mentioned above though..I am.so glad I could get you all worked up over my curb out front and allowing you all to spend your weekend trying to figure out what my husband does for a living.  It's been fun.  Hope you all have a chance to drive by our house so you can get worked up about the curb again.

BTW the house she described would be so affordable here. Like it would make you all weep. I bet she lives in a very LCOL area. I see a lot of people like her in our area. Oh and like I said OP my husband is head of engineering for a Fortune 500 company in our city and since he was moved to the hanger wears shorts to work. Lol at the suit and home. Nope still calling BS. Oh but the we have so much money because we need to save money was a good try.

Let's get to the important stuff...THEY FIRED AVIVA??
They said where she had her moment of "the only thing artificial about me is my leg" didn't even save her for the next season. Ha I'll try to find the link. She really is a whack job.
  • I can fit 6 cars in my driveway...score!

me too! And I am on a 1/2 acre lot. Do I win?

That's amazing.  I'm still waiting for parts 2 and 3 of the reunion to be unlocked on the website so I can watch them.  Bravo is the only thing I miss about cable.
99% of the shows I watch are on Bravo. Should've saved that for FFFC.

Wtf is a 6 car driveway?
Our driveway is like 1/4 mile long....I can fit way more than 6 cars in it.  ::snap::

Oh, but it's privately owned by us...so I guess it's a moot point because I guess I could carve whatever I wanted to in it....and we have no curbs.... :-bd
  • How do you have a home daycare with 5 kids if your husband is on a conference call all day? Even a suit doesn't make kids screaming in the background very professional. Story doesn't add up.

Ummm I didn't leave them to scream all day? The daycare was self contained, in a separate part of the house so when one child was upset the noise wasn't really audible 2 floors up on the other end of the house. My husband also knew when we were having rough periods in the daycare (teething etc) to just move to the office instead of working at home.

Lol it was a few of her posts back; however, it looks like they've since made up.  But still, that's a pretty huge things to be seriously considering then to just make up.... hm....

Wow...you can read.  I must be the most exciting thing in your life right now to be reading all my past posts on other boards.  We're not separated and are not planning on it.  We did have a brief period where we considered that being the best route since both of us working long hours was making our relationship non-existant.  I quit my job to focus my time on being a mom and wife.  We went away on vacation...started some couples counselling to sort out some communication troubles and are back on track.  We put our name in our driveway curb because we do plan to be here until retirement, together.  Because we work through our problems.  I'd read up on your life history...but I have more exciting things to do and don't much care about the lives of people on the interent.  Just sticking around here because it's fun to see all your panties in a knot...oddly enough they all seem to be knotted together.
