I'm up, it's late, I can't sleep.... Couldn't resist naming the spam one more time. It's really fun! I'll stop hogging the board now, your turn gals... Let's hear some spamtastic SPAM!
Sorry you are up @KateJuly2013. I am up because LO is...maybe because her room is really chilly? it is much cooler tonight - but turning the heat on right before sun up seems pointless. I need 3 continuous hours of sleep! The last 2 nights, I couldn't sleep, now I can sleep and LO isn't. I hope you get to sleep, asap!
I think Ben and I are headed to panera for breakfast and then the toy lending library. It is a place that is filled with toys and rooms of activities. Kids can "check out" toys and take them home with them. We went twice when he was 2 months or under but now that he's walking I think he will flip over going there.
I think that I may have traumatized my kid last night. At bed time, she wanted to take her sock monkey to sleep with. Usually, it's just her and her elephant security blanket, Ellie. I checked on her before I went to bed and she was cuddling with the monkey.
Well, we were awaken around 1am this morning to her screaming. DH found her huddled in the corner of the crib, as far away from the sock monkey as she could get. She must have woken up, saw him and freaked the hell out. @-)
We are doing nothing today but spending time together and getting outside as much as possible while it's still nice out. Hailey is having a friend over for a sleepover so we'll be cleaning for sure. I'm going in on a rummage sale next weekend so I need to try to get through closets quick and get items marked.
Up twice last night at strategic times so i don't feel like I slept. I am supposed to be doing a yard sale. It rained all night and is supposed to rain all morning. Mh thinks we should still do it. I think we should just donate it all. We only have 10things to sell.
Oh and my throat hurts. Whiney party of one right here.
Up since 4. Tried for 2hrs to get her back to sleep. An hour before we have to be up anyway I just gave up. She's playing happily. I just hope she isn't evil for the sitter. Be even better if she doesn't sleep for her so we can nap when we get home. This keeps up I might start coffee experimentation....
Someone on my short gut FB group is proselytizing a Paleo diet as the cure for all things short gut. And also all other things.
Doctors do what they can, but "modern medicine is just a bandaid."
"Our ancestors were very lean and healthy" (never mind the average lifespan of a caveman....)
"A friend of mine had diabetes, and Paleo reversed it."
Doctors don't recommend these things because "they are uneducated in natural health."
Must. Not. Engage.... ~X(

This kid may not have a lot of bowel, but he has plenty of guts! DS born at 34 weeks with (surprise!) gastroschisis turned short bowel syndrome. 131 days in the NICU, 7 trips to the OR, G-button, daily TPN....
We are impatiently awaiting the day we can say goodbye to his girlfriend Ivy for good.
@econmama Library? Is there a toddler story time on the weekends? There's an NJ Family website where you can do a search for almost anything, I.e., indoor play space.
DS is dressed like a pirate playing with his cars. DH and LO are still sleeping. LO had a decent night and didn't wake up until 5, when a little pat on the back did the trick and put her back down. She went to the daycare at DH's work yesterday and really tired herself out.
@Alicia0817 there are a couple people on board. One mom agreed that Paleo put her Hashimoto's in remission, so it must be the best thing for SBS.
The thing is, it's probably really good for a lot of these kids. Many of them don't handle sugar very well, so a diet that is mostly protein and vegetable makes sense. It's the packaging that I have such a problem with - "ignore your poor naive doctors and follow this miracle diet because gluten is the DEBBBBIIIILLLLLLLLL."
And it's NOT a cure-all, and it doesn't work for everybody. Lucas's belly hangs onto vegetables for several days and then vomits them, and he is only gaining weight right now because he's eating so much bread and rice.
Not to mention the fact that if we were cavemen (or, you know, lived a few decades ago) every. single. child. in the group would be dead. I'll take my "BandAids," tyvm.

Work called at 5:25 and woke my house up. Now Finn is napping on me and Owen is being wild. Liam is whiny because he's overtired.
Good news: I got to go out with friends after Mr. Vals got home from work. This is an extremely rare occurrence. Downside: he gave me a very hard time about it when I got home.
It's not quite the same, but I've had many people tell me that a gluten-free, paleo diet will fix my RA.
I laugh and laugh.
Yep, gluten totally causes RA.
@econmama RA is really just your body rejecting the seeds of Satan you have sown inside it via years of bread-filled bacchanalia. Duh

To provide some comic relief my autocorrect wanted to say so many jugs (oh course my mind goes to boobies on that one). I will be thinking of you today.
@COmama1314 >:D< I hope it at the very least is a smooth move for you. @gutsymama yikes, I have a sister in law who thinks gluten is the devil....the look of horror on her face watching my kids eat is priceless!! It amazes me that people still think there is a cure all out there!! @valstulas sorry the mr gave you a hard time, but glad you got to go out!!
I'm about to get cracking on some freezer meals and once dh is up we start cleaning out the carport !! At least it's nice out......
Lo definitely brought home a cold from daycare!! And what's with the flinging of food ?!?!?! She does very well eating with utensils, however, I could do without her signing she's all done with a yogurt filled spoon in her hand....yogurt everywhere :-q
@maryannespier that sounds like so much fun! I need to enroll DS. He needs more creative ways to channel all of his energy. Do they offer mommy and me gymnastic classes?
I am on my own with the kids today. DH gutted our bathroom in January and since he works so much, we still have a long way to go. The tub is finally in and we have 2 walls plus the ceiling up. I cannot wait for this to be done. Not having a downstairs bathroom with 2 kids is a pain and only have one bathroom is also a pain. DH had promised the bathroom was going to be done for DD's party and since that did not happen, I am praying it is done for Christmas since we host.
It is so hot and humid and we are supposed to get thunderstorms so I am taking the kids to do some errands. DD woke with a runny nose and cough. I am hoping she feels better after her nap.

That's sort of what this was, in the sense that I was with him the whole time. I did get to go down the tumble track with him and when I got to the end DH said "I don't think I've ever seen you look so thrilled." Lol. I didn't tell him I was pretending to be Dominique Moceanu. After weeks of nap fighting, G fell asleep immediately upon latching about three minutes after we got home, so it is definitely a good energy burner!!
Just brought Tess to a duckies pond with some other neighborhood toddlers. All the other kids enjoyed feeding the ducks. Tess admired them from afar and ate her bread.
