March 2015 Moms

When are you....

When are you/are you going to find out if you are having a baby boy or baby girl? My appointment to find out is in about a week! (I don't remember if this has already been a thread, if so SORRY!)

Also I'm due with a march 1st baby, so I know some of you aren't even thinking of this yet. But if you are please share:)

Re: When are you....

  • Just scheduled our anatomy scan today! October 14th! :)

  • I didn't think a official thread on this topic had been made yet. The only threads I saw were people making guesses and then the thread going to shit. That was not my intention. For the people who haven't found out through testing, now would be the time their appointments might be getting close and maybe they would be excited to share. I have been active on this board this pregnancy since i was 4 weeks along and try my best to keep up with everything everyday. Sorry if I missed it somewhere.
  • My US is oct 7
  • @MauiBliss‌ I do remember that one. I guess mine was more directed to when are everyone's upcoming appointments to find out, if they are going somewhere else to find out early or if their ob does a early scan(as in 16weeks at the earliest). I wasn't claiming that my ob told me which I was having at some crazy early point or posting a picture asking. Which to my knowledge were the only things really posted about. I added the "if you were finding out" part just because I didn't want to leave people out who might not be awaiting appointments to find out. That's all. Just a place for the ladies who are excited for their appointments. I do agree they are similar post. I just thought maybe if I wasn't claiming something crazy people might take the thread a little more serious.
  • Harmony test taken yesterday. Will find out in 10 business days!

  • I have my next appointment with my midwife on the 23rd of this month. She will give us an order for an u/s and said we can schedule it anytime after the appointment. I will probably schedule it for that friday when I turn 17 weeks. This is my first pregnancy and I'm so excited!   :D

  • I'm due March 4th, we don't get to have our ultrasound until October 17th! Really wish it was sooner, I just want to see baby so badly! We haven't seen him/her since 7 weeks as our doctor doesn't do the screenings around 12/13 weeks.

Same due date and we are not doing our anatomy scan until mid October. I am kind of enjoying this in between period of not knowing, not enough to be team green though.
  • Mine will be near the end of October, around 19 weeks. I'm excited but nervous as this was the ultrasound that let us know our last baby hadn't made it passed 15 weeks and we were devastated... I can only hope the outcome is different and we see a healthy growing baby then. It'd be great if we did see what we were having, as we were team green the first time, and I'd like to know this time!

  • We hope to find out at our first u/s which is the anatomy scan at 18wks on 10/2. We are SO excited to finally get to see our baby...still several weeks to go though.
  • I made my appointment yesterday. I will get my anatomy scan on October 17th. I'm excited to know the gender, but also to get to see my baby again I love getting u/s so I can see it and know it's okay.

  • Elective US scheduled for the 27th. I'll be 17 weeks so hopefully will be able to tell what the sex is.

We're either doing the nursery in a mint and gray or lilac/purple and gray depending on sex.

I want to get the painting over with sooner rather than later so early US.

I'm refinishing my childhood furniture for the baby and trying to work in the accent color.

  • I'm due March 1st as well and our scan is scheduled in two weeks. We plan on surprising our older kids when we find out. :)
  • @bdazzld we are waiting to paint too. Either way it'll be grey but I'd like to finalize accent colors and figure out where to go from there.
  • I'm also due on March 1st & our anatomy scan is scheduled for Sept. 28th! I'm so excited!!
  • I'm a STM with a child with a disability and I've had two losses and you know what? I'm still excited to find out what the sex of my baby is and there's nothing wrong with that. I Also think those that claim to not care are full of it and if that's so why find out at 20 weeks or at all? Team green is team green because it's exciting to find out that way, yes finding out is exciting

My husband and I give not a single shit about what sex (or for that matter, later down the line, gender) our baby is as long as said baby is healthy and happy.
    _-----------quotefail-----------------

Agree. I could not possibly care less what junk my babies are sporting. But, thanks for declaring me full of shit (I'm not. I pooped today already).

    Braggart! I haven't gone in a week

  • We will get an elective ultrasound the week of October 5th or the week before that. Our anatomy scan won't be until the the last week of October and the technician isn't allowed to say anything at all about the ultrasound (we have to wait for our doctor to review it). If course my #1 is for a healthy baby, but being the first baby we have reached the 11-12 week range we are excited to plan the nursery and such.
  • I'm due March 6th and we have a scheduled ultrasound on October 8th. So excited! This is my second, but first with my boyfriend. This is his first, so he is nervous and over protective hahaha :)

    ----quote, y u suck ------

I am glad someone else pointed it out because that self-righteous comment really pissed me off. And also, we have a sticky for this crap now, which, some people in here have already posted in so we're just bumping this thread for fun now?

Wasn't trying to offend anyone and I wasn't calling anyone in particular out and I'm also tired of the same posts Honestly guys no hard feelings I didn't mean to come off bitchy or anything and of course my main concern is health believe me I know what it's like to have a child who isn't and it's hell.

What I really, honestly want to know is why the sex is so important to everyone. I understand being excited to find out as any new info about our babies is exciting right now, but what difference does it really make? Unless you actively plan on purposely raising a pretty pretty princess or some archaic version of an alpha male, I don't really grasp the importance it holds. Sex organs are not the end all be all of determining your child's personality traits.
The same goes for shopping based on sex. If someone has an issue with a girl in boy clothes or vice versa then that sounds like their fucking problem. I wore boy clothes growing up and my neighbor wore girl clothes. It was great for swapping and he gratefully took all barbie gifts off my hands. I bet nobody saw that on an ultrasound at 20 weeks.
I feel like I'm missing some pertinent piece of info that makes everyone care about their child's crotch so much. If that's the case then PLEASE let me know what it is.

It's not some pertinent piece that your missing. A lot of mom's want to know what sex organs the baby's have just because they do!! This is my second and I am excited to find out if I will get to experience the love of a son or if I will get to experience the love of another daughter. I love buying clothes based on the sex, because I just do! Later on down the line they will get to choose what they want to wear as does my daughter does already & she's 3! It is exactly our problem if that's what we want to do and exactly our own problem as to why we want to find out whether we are having a girl or a boy!

Every parent wants to know their child is going to be HEALTHY, that is already a given!!!! Even the parent who isn't pregnant hopes for that as well!!!

But knowing the sex shouldn't be such a big deal to you, even if there is posts on it everyday!!!!

    So there's your pertinent information.
Wow. Thanks for enlightening me with "just because I do". That is the epitome of pertinent information.
By posting about it on the internet you're asking for opinions and making it someone else's problem. Also, never once did I say anything about not wanting my baby to be healthy. That's obviously the most important thing to everyone with conscious thought.
If you want to care about something without any regard for consequences or social impact because you "just do" then fine, do that. I bet you will live a very meaningful life.

  • This may be a dumb question, but humor me please :)
It seems like a lot of doctors offer the anatomy scan between weeks 18ish-22.  Do you think it is easier to tell the sex (depending on positioning of course) if you have your u/s closer to that 22 week mark, or do those bits not change much after week 18?

Well it should fulfill your own personal need for pertinent information of why other women want to know the sex of their babies.

I'm sorry that I don't have some shakespearian or freudian response that would be sufficient enough for you, as to why I, like many others, want to know what sex our babies are.

My life is very meaningful and fulfilled without having to need pertinent information of why women want to know whether they are having a girl or a boy. :)
Well if you didn't have any intelligent answer other than "just because" I'm not sure why you chimed in, but that's cool. It doesn't fulfill any need of mine because that can not in way be considered information. In fact that is more of a compete lack of information supplemented with a baseless opinion.
I get curiosity, sure. I understand that. It's when disappointment and pigeonholing your kids before they're even born comes into play that I get upset.
Edit because my fingers are clumsy.

  • If it all boils down to just sheer curiosity about what your child's genitals are going to look like then that's weird to me that people care so much. And why then do people throw parties, wait to decorate their houses /rooms and essentially mold their child's life around those genitals. It's just don't get why it's such a big deal, it's fucking strange and it's totally ruining my day so I'm over it. Thanks for the chat though : )

  • Due March 24th, and I just set up an elective ultrasound at a boutique that is purely just to look at baby genitals October 9th. I really don't care how weird that sounds. The technology is there, why not utilize it.
Of course we all want healthy babies and can rejoice in that, but I still want to know if we have a penis or vagina to work with. My H and I are still on the fence about circumsision.
I will be 16 weeks and a few days. I do not care either way, boy or girl, but we do not have blood test options through our OB, and I normally not a patient person.
We have our 12 week ultrasound September 15th, and I will finally have my chance to see our little munchkin. I cannot wait to see if our baby is doing well. The Oct 9th appointment is purely just for our amusement.

  • I have one daughter who was born sick and with cleft lip and palate. I'm doing all the testing possible to make sure this one is ok. I want my little one to be healthy. I just saw baby on U/S tues. Made my heart melt ! I can't wait to see him or her again in October. I have to admit though, I am excited to find out what it is. I don't think there is anything wrong with being excited about that part as well. I love decorating, so I'm excited to know so I can get things ready :)

    September 21, woooo!

    <:-P

  • We are due march 1st !!! Gender scan scheduled for October 2nd !!!! I'll be 18+4 ... I'm so impatient and super excited !
  • There are many many reasons why people are interested in finding out the sex of their baby.
However in MY particular situation, I like knowing because we are Orthodox Jews and like most Jews, we have a Bris 8 days after a baby boy is born-I don't know if any of you have ever experienced this as a mom, but it is extremely stressful to BEGIN planning this huge event AFTER the baby is born!
Another reason is that many second time moms like to know if they're having the same sex as their first child because if they are, they don't have to buy much- they already have all the clothing and what not.
I don't have a problem with girls dressing in "boy" clothing and vice versa but MOST moms wouldn't choose that path for their child off the bat so as not to make their life more difficult. If THEY choose that path then great!
But I probably won't dress my baby boy in my daughters pink clothes his whole life just because I want to prove to people that I'm PC and good with boys dressing as girls and girls as boys.
  • I'm due March 2nd and my Dr said he'd try and find out the sex for us at our 16 week appt which is on Sept 16. Last time he caught it at 15 weeks so I'm hopeful baby will cooperate and we find out.
