Hope this isn't the dumb question of the day, but when LO was an infant pedi said to use a toothbrush without toothpaste or just a wet rag to wipe down teeth each day. At what age can you start incorporating toothpaste?
Not a dumb question at all. For DD we use Colgate baby toothpaste. It is recommended for children 0-2 and is fluoride free. Another bonus is that it is safe if they swallow (small amounts of course). They say to just use a pea size amount. I think we started using toothpaste around 15 months and she loves it!

I used a wet washcloth in the bath until about a month ago. Then I got the Orajel berry flavored flouride-free kit (came with a toothbrush) and he seems to being doing well with it.
They make toddler toothpaste. We have some. Once a day I'll put a little toothpaste on his brush and let him brush himself. Just to get in the practice. Then I wipe the teeth down with a wet washcloth.
My pedi said toothpaste wasn't necessary so we haven't been using it yet. There's no harm though as long as it's fluoride free. I might start trying it soon if DS keeps refusing to let me brush!

Little Rose is 2 1/2.
Thanks to everyone who responded. DS is 14 months so it sounds like it could be time to start. Will give it a shot!
