Did you have drama at your wedding?

  • No, but I'm sure I must have done something wrong and MIL just hasn't told me yet.
  • My biggest wedding drama was something I've already posted about, which was when my MIL told my now husband now to marry me.

  • I feel like the title says it all. Some people are ridiculous.

On the GTKY theme... our priest bailed on us. We saw him the evening before for rehearsal, but not on the day of. Apparently he thought seeing his nephew pitch against the Yankees was more important than a wedding that had been planned for almost a year.
Back up priest didn't even know our names, wasn't in full vestments, called hubby the wrong name, and lost the final blessing in his book! Oh, and no notice or even apology from the priest about not showing up. Needless to say, we have found a different church to attend...

  • Yupp my FIL refused to come because we didn't like that we were spending a huge amount of money on a wedding when we could have been married at the town hall and had a small cookout to celebrate.

Do we have the same MIL?

I'm sorry this happened to you, I know first hand how shitty that is.

  • 1. Can we all agree on how fugly that pic of the groom is?

    2. I was almost 23 weeks pregnant at my wedding, and my aunt called me fat.

  • No drama here. But I bartender for probably 100 weddings and saw a lot of it.

  • Oh and for those of you who just read the article and didn't watch the video, I think my favorite part of all was the third guy who got arrested was a school board member. He apparently was flailing his arms around while screaming at the police that he has HIV.

  • That family...oh my.

I'm not married yet (will be soon), but so far my so-called SMIL (FI dad married her less than a yr ago so FI refuses to call her any stop of "mom") anyway she decided to tell me a wedding was stupid and i should have gotten married in the courthouse way before DD was born. My whole 10 guest wedding...is stupid...

  • Btw it wouldn't have made sense for us to get married before DD was born. As soon as we get married i loose my insurance and FI just started a new job and his benefits hadn't set in. It's a good thing we didn't too because DD was early and in the nicu for awhile, I had a bunch of drugs and interventions during labor and delivery, and recovery for me hasn't been smooth sailing (I've had a bunch of infections and have seen the dr at least once a week since delivery..)

  • As I think of it, most of our drama happened during the planning stages ...
  • We had a handful of guests who got spectacularly drunk and made fools of themselves. DH and I missed most of it though. We ended up hearing stories after the fact.

    This is not surprising.

I was always surprised when we didn't have a glass broken on the dance floor.

And as a side note, never, ever go bare foot at a wedding.  Always bring flip flops or flats if you need them.  A surprising number of glasses are usually broken on dance floors and not all of it might be cleaned up.

I don't know. Did you fall down and bloody your knee and then use another guest's scarf to bandage it? Or were you the one walking around drinking the dregs of everyone else's drinks when they cut you off at the bar?
  • No real drama. It just rained for hours before our outdoor wedding in my in-laws' back yard. We did not have a rain plan. Oh, wait, I think I pissed my MIL off when I said I was not going to get married in her living room. Fortunately it stopped just before pictures started and didn't start up again until everyone had gone home. It all worked out in the end.

Ooh... I just remembered the only real drama of the weekend. My MIL had this vision of people meandering through her backyard at the wedding, and wanted to put chairs and seats in different spots in the yard. She wanted the bar aaaaaaallll the way across the yard from the reception area/food. I said no, I wanted everything in the same area. She was visibly angry: "What? You just want people sitting there not doing anything?" Yes. Yes, I do. I got my way in the end because the rain turned her yard into a mucky muddy mess. Hahaha.
  • We had no drama at my wedding, but DH ticked me off more than he ever had before at a friend's wedding reception bc he would NOT stop checking football scores on his phone. He was completely ignoring me, and I wound up angry and disappointed. It ruined our whole beach trip. :(

  • My brother got drunk (and didn't take his medicine) and started yelling at all the guests that my husband was a horrible person and he hated him. My dad and several family members escorted him outside to cool off which caused my dad to miss our father daughter dance.

I didn't know about it until after the wedding, I just thought my dad was in the bathroom.
