2nd Trimester

Gaining too much weight too quickly

hello & help!  my starting weight was 145lbs and at 20 almost 21 weeks i am weighing 180lbs. i signed up for the gym for light exercise but was sick for 2 weeks and then went on vacation for about a week. so i wasn’t working out for about 3 weeks. i have been trying to make healthier choices as well. I have my anatomy scan tomorrow and scared to get on the scale but also need advice to help slow my weight gain as i already gained enough for the entirety of pregnancy.

  • Drinking more water can help fill you up without adding calories. I started squeezing lime into my water because vitamin C is good for pregnancy and I don’t always like plain water. I also try to keep apples, sliced veggies, and other low-calorie healthy snacks around so I can fill up on those between meals. It is a hard time though around the holidays! Sugar and candy are the biggest sources of empty calories, it could be helpful to ask a friend if they would join you in avoiding sugar or something like that for the next few months, it’s way easier when you are doing it with someone and have accountability.

  • It's OK to gain weight during pregnancy.  I have always gained more than recommended.  The older I get the harder it is to lose each time. But, it does come off. Focus on nutrient dense foods and know that the weight will come off after baby is born. If you breastfeed it is crazy how fast.
  • Don’t worry too much about the numbers. As long as you are eating healthy and exercising you are doing what you need to. I gained almost 60 pounds with my first and lost 35 right after I had her. I guess your body decides how much weight it needs to gain, whether we like it or not.
Just try to drink plenty of water and make sure you are hydrated, that can cause false hunger. For snacks eat apples or carrots or anything you have to chew more, and try not to get to obsessed and get really down about it, that can make hunger worse. I know it is easier said than done, but you will lose the weight dieting and exercising after.

I feel u, honestly. I gained pretty quick around that time too—went from 140 to 175 like boom. Missed workouts cuz of morning sickness and travel too. What helped me was just walking more, eating simple stuff. A friend tried this 7-day cucumber-based diet and swore it helped reset cravings. Maybe worth checking out, just not too strict.

You're definitely not alone — pregnancy weight gain can feel overwhelming, especially when life (and symptoms!) get in the way of routines. Be kind to yourself; your body’s doing amazing work. Light movement, like walking or prenatal yoga, and focusing on whole, balanced meals can help stabilize things going forward. While Ozempic isn’t recommended during pregnancy, it’s something some consider postpartum to support weight management. If that’s a future option, you can Buy Ozempic Online through trusted sources when the time is right — with your doctor’s guidance, of course. You’ve got this, one step at a time!

  • Total opposite but sometimes I wonder if I’m not gaining enough? Im almost 17weeks with twins and I’ve gained like 13lbs. I started at like 132 and now I’m 145. Idk I guess everyone is different. I just want to have healthy babies. This last week my belly has grown quite a bit but I’ve gained like 3lbs? I’ve been eating as much fruit as possible and as health consciously as possible. I’d say Ive always been a pretty healthy eater anyway. Again, just wanting healthy babies.
  • After having my baby, I struggled a bit with the extra pregnancy weight—it just wasn’t coming off as easily as I hoped. I started looking for something gentle and safe, especially since I’m breastfeeding, and came across Mummy Magic Weight Loss Tea. I’ve been using it consistently and honestly feel like it’s helped kickstart my metabolism and reduce bloating without affecting my milk supply. It’s not a magic fix, but it’s been a really helpful support in my postpartum journey. Definitely recommend giving it a try after delivery.
