Feel good story about my silly cat that went missing last night

My DH and I are living in my parents guest house until the baby arrives, we have a cat who is still adjusting to our move from across country, anyways-- she's never been outside, and likes small spaces. Whenever we feed her in the morning around 5-- she is usually already out pouncing around. I had a gut feeling somehow she had gotten out, but DH insisted she had to be hiding somewhere in the house. After looking all morning I was convinced she had gotten away, but when she is scared she finds the tiniest places to hide and won't come out (if she doesn't know where she is) so I felt really defeated that she could be anywhere and we wouldn't find her.

My parents live on a ranch, so the perimeter seemed impossible. Anyways, my parents have 4 tiny dachshunds, one of them (the smallest and maybe weighing 5 lbs total) came in our guest house this morning ( I just wanted to see if she would smell anything and maybe find her hiding in a small place) but she didn't do anything and I let her back outside.

WELL, 5 minutes later I hear her howling at our pool shed and she was barking at it endlessly so I went outside to look and guess who I found in a tiny dark corner--- the fattest cat you will ever see. Oh and she is fine btw.

  • Ooh yea. When we moved our youngest kitty disappeared for 24 hrs. We thought he had gotten out and I was a horrible wreck. After 24 hours missing, my husband went and bought catch and release traps and we baited them with wet food. About 5 minutes after we put those out, up comes Desmond from the basement. This is where he hides now:

  • So cute! I'm so happy you found him safe and sound.

My kitty is a sleek 18 pounds. :) He's a maine coone, so I feel like that gives him a pass to be big.
  • Yay! So happy she hadn't gone far! My cat thinks she is bigger than she is and tries to fight large animals so I worry when she escapes.

  • Phew! Smart puppy. So glad you found your kitty. I'm seriously paranoid about my indoor only cat ever getting out.

  • Here is an update from this afternoon--she is exhausted and passed out! Haha
  • She sounds EXACTLY like our cat! He will hide in the darkest and smallest places he can fit into (granted he is nearly 20 pounds of love, as my husband calls it, so that's not a lot of places). We just moved into a new trailer and he has taken to a particular cupboard that he's been in there for the last couple of days and I haven't been able to put anything in it, lol.  The pic is of 3 of the 4 fur babies we have. The cat I am talking about is the black and white one sleeping, his name is Oreo.
