DD1 never had any and she turned out fine! I think our pedi recommended against it, says it lets them get into stuff they shouldn't and they get hurt. We don't have room for one here anyways.

Why are they bad? My kid doesn't have the attention span to stay in one for more than a few minutes but I figured its a great way to work on hand coordination/ leg strength/ neck strength. Especially since my baby hates tummy time.
Doesn't do much for leg strength as they wear no weight on it. It's like a weight machine that you use to lift weights. It mimics the motions but it's far from realistic. And far from being ergonomic. People still use them. But should be in moderation. However a baby's development is more sensitive so in moderation to minimal is best.
Like walking wings. They hold up the child before they are ready do physically do it themselves as they cannot walk yet. Or the bumbo - mimics sitting up before the child is physically ready to do so.
However. DS is mentally wanting to sit at end stand and he's not physically ready. But he loved his bumbo and jolly jumper. But I keep it.minimal.
I like the excersaucer. DD literally stands in it she hasn't even figured out that it actually bounces. She stands there and "talks" to her parrots or monkeys lol. Most excersaucers adjust to different levels as well so they can continue practicing with there standing muscles. She only last about 10 minutes every 3 hours or so though.

We had an exersaucer for DS (and will reuse it with DD). I kind of wish we'd had a jumperoo instead for him as he loved, and still loves, jumping around. We used it in moderation with him, when I needed to set him down for a bit and keep him out of trouble (like when I needed to run in groceries when home alone with him, for example...or when I needed to cook dinner). Especially useful once he got mobile. Our babies are on the young side for these things now. I think we started using it with DS around the 5 month mark, and just for super short stints then.
I found an OBall exersaucer mis-marked at BBB for $10.98. The manager honored the price and even gave me 20% off despite the fact I didn't have a coupon. That's the only reason DD has one. And it's not even at our house - it's at my mom's.
We have the Baby Einstein jumparoo and she's too small for it. Either way, I'm glad we have both. I feel like they'll definitely come in handy.
I find myself wanting all the things to keep LO entertained as he gets bored doing any one thing after 10 minutes ... i have a circuit course of sorts for him when I'm home with him all day
ETA: I buy some things used because I know they will only use them for a short period of time
We have a jumperoo. We loved it with DS1 and are starting to let DS2 start in it a little. The pedi says to make sure they can touch with just the tippy toes so I put something under him for now.
Congrats to my GP Sister from another mister Bruinsbabe!!
We have an Evenflo Excersauser and FP Jumperoo. The Exersauser is great for now. She sits in it all the time. The Jumperoo she's still a little small for. If your only going to get one is go Jumperoo.
Re: Jumperoo or exersaucer?
I like the jolly jumper. DS goes to town in it.

I just said the same point 6 times. Sheesh.
