I use Fels Naptha, Borax, and washing soda, plus about 5 gallons of water to make our detergent. DD and I have super sensitive skin and have had no issues. If I have tough stains I pre-treat with a DIY stain remover - hydrogen peroxide, Dawn, and baking soda. The liquid detergent lasts FOR-E-VER.
@5speckledfrogs I use a half cup. @ashleymarie512 we have a front load washer (came with the house) and I have no idea if we can do dry detergent. If we can I would switch, it has to be less time to make.
@1littlebird I've read that you can use dry detergent in a front loader and just put it directly in the tub on the clothes. Supposedly only need 1-2T.
Seriously this is the best ever. What I do is similar to @1littlebird but it is powder. I like powder better. Era used to stain my clothes. Definitely give it a try. I really sensitive to laundry detergents, and I have no issues with this.
I use the borax/washing soda/oxiclean recipe. I use 1tbsp for regular laundry, 3tbsp for diapers. 1 batch ($30) lasts 2 years. I've been using it for a little over 2 years now.
