MIL Vent

My MIL watches DS 5 days a week while me and DH are at work full-time.  I've never been happy with the situation as his family is very overwhelming and having them involved in our lives so heavily has really created some tension between me and them.  DH likes that family watches DS and they wouldn't have it any other way either.  I've tried my best to deal with it these last 9 months.  Next month we'll be putting him in daycare two days a week to let him get some exposure to others besides grandma and grandpa.

Anyway this morning when we dropped him off he crawled, for the FIRST time.  Or so I thought.  DH and I got so excited and we were cheering him on to which MIL chimes in 'oh, he's been doing that for two days now." My heart dropped. I had missed his first crawl and MIL couldn't even be sympathetic enough to bite her tongue and let us enjoy the moment.

Thanks for listening :)

Re: MIL Vent

  • My mom watches Matthew 3-5 days a week depending on my schedule and I'm so grateful she's getting a part time job! It's so over whelming seeing her constantly..

My mom would do the same thing about stuff like that because she loves to be the first in things so I told her her life depended on her not telling me i miss a first. And I keep reminding her lol. But that's MY mom. Not my mil.

I'm really sorry they stole your moment. ) :

  • My mom swears that she saw DD take unassisted steps last week. I'm going to go ahead and call bullshit while hanging out in denial-land until I see her first steps in front of me

    Grandparents are so annoying.
  • Ouch, that really sucks! I told daycare not to tell me about milestones unless I asked so that I didn't miss the "first" anything. Although, her first roll from tummy to back that wasn't a fluke, I missed because I had run home from a family gathering. Everyone had gathered around her on the floor and she rolled for them. I cried like a baby. I hope she is much more sensitive about first steps!
