It's such a relief to find a group of fellow teachers here! I'm 6 weeks 1 day, in my 8th year of teaching, and in a brand new school. I've been surprisingly mellow about beginning of the year stuff, too! This is my first pregnancy, and it's really early. However, I told my grade-level administrator, and she has been absolutely wonderful! She checks on me several times a day to see if I need a bathroom break and to make sure I'm drinking enough water.
I teach third. Second pregnancy. Planned to have a spring baby so I could have the end of the school year + summer. Success! And yes, I am SO tired with very minimal bathroom breaks. And when a craving hits, I'm miserable bc I can't do anything about it. Good luck with the school year to all of you
5th grade teacher here school is in it's 3rd week this week and my kids are concerned because I feel so crappy. But when I feel sick I just pop a jolly rancher and feel better fast!
Yes! I announce to my staff and kids in Monday! I really don't like being the center of attention, so I just write it on my white board under the announcements for the week...and waited to see who actually reads them! They are so excited!!
Not yet! I teach middle school science and plan on announcing next Friday on Halloween. I will be 15 weeks at that point! Hopefully that's waiting long enough, but I'm too excited, can't wait any longer than that!
Not yet. I'm waiting until some time after our a/s at the end of November to tell the kids, unless I get a lot bigger between now and then. I have a few behavior kids that can be very aggressive and vindictive, so I'm waiting as long as possible to tell them.

My staff has known since I was 12 weeks. I teach grade 1 so I'll wait until either one of them notices my growing belly or one of their parents does and it comes up. Haha
I caught a student googling "how to tell if a woman is pregnant" today and so several students suspect I am, but no one has asked me directly yet. I'm planning on telling them next week after I find out the sex.
Not yet....I am an elementary school librarian, so if I tell my kiddos, that means I tell ALL of the kids in the school. Not ready for that yet. I think I will officially announce to the staff and kids after we have our next ultrasound to find out if it's a boy or girl. I have told my vice-principal because sometimes I have to leave just a bit early to get to my appointments. Some kids have made comments about me possibly being pregnant, but I just smile. I'm not exactly skinny, so I don't think they're sure if it's a baby in there or just some extra pounds haha.
I totally missed this thread the first (few?) times!
I'm a high school math teacher, also @alie78_80 ...mostly 11th and 12th grade. I started almost a month before most of you (August 4).
Told my students two weeks ago (the start of 2nd quarter for us)...they were all excited (although about half of them had guessed). I teach AP (so they have a HUGE test in May) and I'm pretty sure that they haven't quite figured out that I will be gone!
I'm a high school band and orchestra director so I told my kids at the beginning of the season, so they would hopefully be more helpful with moving things around (they have been GREAT!) band camp was awful because that was the first week of August in the heat all day and I wanted to puke all. The. Time. But they are super excited and at our last practice last Monday they threw me a surprise baby shower. It was adorable! I still can't figure out how 100 kids and their parents managed to keep the whole thing a secret. Each section got me a gift and they all sat there loving me opening all the stuff they bought- yes even the high school boys! It was amazing : )
Hey all! I teach 4-12th grade (mostly 6-8) at a small Montessori school. Experienced bad morning sickness but felt great while at work...guess being so busy was helpful. At 14 weeks I told my students. Husband works at the same school so we announced to our homerooms on the same day. I expected my middle schoolers to be jerks about it but so far all our students have been pretty sweet! Only a few commented, "I thought you were gaining weight!" Hahah. And yes, very excited about starting summer break 6 weeks early! Here's hoping I can work until my due date though! Hard not to feel guilty working in a small school and needing to take time off.
I'm a high school teacher. I now work from home for an online school so I can be with my 19 month old son. It's a lot of balancing with work and him and home, but 100% worth it!
I taught full time (4th-7th) for four years, but now am teaching full time for The Princeton Review--the one job where I can set my own schedule, work partly from home, AND tell them that I'll be disappearing in March and maybe will come back on a limited basis in the fall, and their response is "GREAT! CONGRATS!"
So, if anyone wants to teach test prep--which is actually challenging, fun, and even sometimes a positive societal influence, I recommend.
And I told most of my individual students. Hilariously, my former students found out I was pregnant on Facebook, and mistakenly decided I'm having twins. Cue concerned texts from former colleagues. (Middle schoolers are overly literal, y'all...)
I am a full-time high school Math teacher. I told a few close friends on staff when we got back to work in September, and then just last week have started telling some of the others. I haven't told my students yet. I'm a hockey player and my team is going on a trip this week - I'm going too but just to watch. I think I'll tell my students when I get back next week, because they'll expect a debrief and in the upcoming weeks it will become fairly obvious that I wasn't playing!
TTC #2 Since October 2013. Annovulatory so not expecting much! Waited to finish breastfeeding before using Clomid again. August 2014: Clomid round 3 (50 mg) and progesterone (100mg) - BFP!
