May 2015 Moms

Goodbye Starbucks, it's been real.

My house is literally 200 yards from a Starbucks drive through. They know my name, they know my beverages.
And this positive pregnancy test means no more quad-venti-lattes. :(

I have a 2yo and 3yo, I teach sophomores in hs. I am extra exhausted this past week and now coffee makes me want to puke.
Cest la vie.

Excited about #3. I swore up and down to hubby I was prego this past week and just got a positive test last night. (Told you so!) I'm 4 wks today but have been choking back vomit, dizzy, and pretty sore breasts for 7 days now.

This one should be born right around my dds 4th birthday and exactly 6-8 weeks before the end of school year (every teachers FMLA dream.)

Now... How to keep this nugget a secret from the family, friends, and work until our 1st u/s on sept 25?

Glad to have an online outlet, bump friends!

  • Congrats and welcome! Is there a different form of caffeine that doesn't make you sick? Most doctors readily approve some caffeine during pregnancy. I still drink my same large cup of coffee every morning and every few days I have a soda as well! I definitely can't get through pregnancy, work, and having a 2.5 yr old toddler without caffeine!

    Good Luck!

I still have my small cup every morning. I would not be able to function without it. However, my last pregnancy it made me so sick to even smell coffee through about 18 weeks so I completely get where you're coming from. Maybe your aversion will pass, too? Here's hoping!

    ETA: Congrats!

  • Welcome! I believe sbux lists the caffeine contents on their website (I think...). There is still a lot you can have, just fewer shots or half caff.
  • Starbucks does list caffeine content- I just can't stomach the coffee.... I'm going to try to figure out how much caffeine is in iced tea today. Over the summer I finally stopped drinking soda- so that's out.

    Thanks for the welcome! :)

  • Congrats!  I still relish my one cup of coffee in the morning - I'd be sad if my stomach stopped liking it!  Then the headaches would start, ugh.

  • Thankfully, in my last couple of pregnancies coffee hasn't bothered me except to give me heartburn. In my first I had to completely stop drinking it because it made me sick so I feel your pain.

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

I luckily gave up all caffeine, as well as lots of other food related items (junk mostly junk) a while ago but I am a 7p-7a RN and have an almost two year old. I'm really gonna miss my old 10p SB fix especially once pregnancy fatigue sets in!
  • I do the cold brew Lipton bags- only 40mg a tea bag.
