Re: UO Thursday!

  • @MorwenCimorene, I agree, sort of...

I've found that some of my favourite wines are the cheaper ones that  "proper" wine drinkers won't put their lips to! I like sweet white or rose wines.

Now I want wine at 13:30 on a Thursday afternoon!

  • +1 for hating shoes. I want to wear my one pair of flip flops every day!

  • Socks and shoes suck. I think we recently talked about this in WTO. I have less than 5 pairs of shoes and I don't even know where my socks are. I hate things on my feet. Flip flops in summer and ballet flats in winter. I just can't do it. My feet feel like they can't breathe.

I hate flip flops. Nothing goes between my toes, ick. Also hate how that is all a lot of kids/teens are wearing and I have heard they are doing damage to their feet. (not sure if that is true or limited to certain situations)

I am partially a hypocrite because I have one pair of flip flops I own and love. Fit flop For Lyfe!!1!!1

And I HATE EVEN MORE THAT MY COMPUTER AUTOCORRECTED HER NAME TO HAVE AN ACCENT.  Wtf is that??  She's So uber amazingly popular that my autocorrect knows her name?

Now that you have me thinking about the accent mark... why is it there? Don't we all say be-YON-ce and not be-yon-CE ??

    *Hate Beyonce
    *Hate shoes and socks
*Not a big fan of wine either

I'll sit with you in the corner. I strongly agree with all of the above.

This one will probably unleash of all kinds of fury in my direction, but I don't like when ladies here announce their BFP before telling their DH or partner. If I found out my DH announced any big, personal news to an online community (no matter how tight and supportive) before telling me, I would be hurt. I am sure it's overwhelming and exciting and I can't wait to experience it. But if I couldn't keep it in, I would tell the cat or a houseplant or just write it over and over on a chalkboard like Bart Simpson. DH deserves to know first.

I 100% agree with you. I know my H would be annoyed with me if I did that and he found out.

If thinking this is wrong I don't want to be right.

  • I love socks!  Hate shoes (wearing I mean some are pretty) but I try to live within most norms of society... flip flops are a neutral bc they are ugly as sin but better than others.
Love Salty foods, even eat the salt off of pretzels and throw out the pretzel.
I don't give a rip about Beyonce, don't know who Solange is.
I would never tell others before telling dh.
My UO I think hard ciders/  premixed alcoholic drinks, and the fixation of lime beers are all nasty.

I do agree with this. And the part about telling the cat.....I think I'd hold off on that. Last time I got good news I was home alone and ran downstairs to tell my cat. I fell on the stairs and broke my finger. Still doesn't straighten right! True story.

I am both very sorry and highly amused to hear that. For what it's worth, I once fell down my basement stairs because I was doing a happy dance that I had finished a work out. The bruise was roughly the size of Texas.

I also do not understand the appeal of Iggy Azalea.
    But she's so fancy! ;)

  • My UO-Gender reveal parties are dumb. Same with engagement parties. If you want to get your close family or a couple of close friends together for dinner to celebrate that is one thing but to have half the world come is over kill. I went to one last weekend and it was like a mini wedding reception leading up to the big reveal!

Not even remotely UO around here.

Around here people looovvveeee this shit. Though, most people reveal at the baby shower? Which means no new parties, but makes everyone feel like shit for the presents they got since they didnt know the gender til then? Idk. They also like "name reveals" at thw baby shower, which im ok with that one, makes it fun for people to guess at the shower before you tell them.
  • UO: I think all cotton balls should die a fiery death and should not be used for ANYTHING. I do not buy them, I do not look at them, I do not want them anywhere near me. I can hear the squeaking they make (I feel you judging me right now) when they are touched and it makes my teeth hurt. I am uncomfortable with this while I am writing it.

Cornstarch gives me this exact feeling. I fucking hate it. And if I touch it I just want to cry. I hate everything about it. Just thinking about feeling it really bothers me. I hate it. Hate it.

You have to clean your dog's ears out with them!

(seriously, I think that's all we use them for. And DS uses them for crafts sometimes)

  • @CatahoulaMom For some reason cotton pads don't have this exact effect on me. They are pressed in a certain way that doesn't make me want to jump out a window (if they are drenched) so that is what I use to clean the pup's ears. :)

I'm also not a fan of this Ariana Grande (that's her name right?)... I can't understand anything she's annoyingly screaming at me.

I have this, too! Although my reaction was to just hate salt.

  • @frankenmom I just watched the two videos, Partition and the SNL skit. I love the SNL skit! But Partition, well, I work in Paris about 4 storefronts away from Crazy Horse. I walk past there everyday, I've even seen the dancers on strike once. It was really funny. I get the appeal, but in reality France is super conservative so videos like this show an American fantasy. It sells well in the US but it doesn't even shock much over here. But it is hella sexy, which brings us back to the SNL "Beyoncé's off making a sexually aggressive video/song about this monogamous relationship!"

@Joy2611 I get the accent, supposedly her family's got New Orleans roots hence Beyoncé and Solange are very French-sounding and accented names. Though I've never met a Beyoncé here in France. And it wouldn't be pronounced the way we do in English since at the very least the "on" would be a nasalize "o" and the "n" would be silent. And the first syllable would be different. Infact we pronounce her name as if it was written: Bionnecé. She needs the é otherwise the end would just be "sss". The only pronunciation error we make with Solange is the "o" since we turn it to an "uh" sound sometimes. It should be a hard "o".

  • Vampire-related books and movies...yeah...not a fan.
I don't like the Sookie Stackhouse books. I tried reading the first one and the writing was too all over the place for me. Sorry True Blood fans.
I liked True Blood and then tried to read one of the books. I got about two chapters in and couldn't take it. They're awful books. But the show was so fun. I stopped watching the show after that.
