how much does LO move in their sleep?

I'm laying here wide awake at 3 am watching LO on the monitor flop all around and I'm curious how others LOs sleep. She can roll from tummy to back but not back to tummy, so there is no rolling around. Sometimes she's perfectly still, then she'll go through 5 or so minutes of pulling her legs to her chest and kicking them straight out, shaking her head back and forth, and moving her arms around.

Re: how much does LO move in their sleep?

  • Really the only time she doesn't move is if she sleeps on her belly. If she sleepin on her back I'll lay her down one way and get her the next morning and she will be all the way at the other end in some funny position .

  • When LO is in a deep sleep she doesn't move, but when she hits those lighter sleep phases she'll sometimes move a good bit! She almost always rolls to her tummy now to sleep, and I always find it hilarious when she will (still asleep) lift her head way up off the mattress, "look" around (eyes still closed), and then plop her head back down and be out again, lol.

  • She's pretty still in the beginning of the night then gets rowdy as the night goes on. She lifts her legs up and then slams them back down too which scares the crap out of me!

  • I said ss because the twins are different. Keira doesn't roll in her sleep yet and doesn't move much. Owen is more of a wiggle worm. He rolls to his belly and moves to one side of the crib where he sticks one arm down through the slats. He does this every night no matter how we put him down.

  • Will moves all over the crib. He doesn't when he's in a deep sleep, but he rolls back and forth and scoots himself up against the slats. He's always sticking limbs out and getting stuck. As soon as I put him in the crib he rolls onto his side or belly. He never ever sleeps on his back.
  • We have a dancer, kickboxer, roller, butt up, on tummy, you name it he does it.  If I got that much exercise during the night I'd loose a few pounds!  But... he generally sttn so no worries
  • I chose SS.

Up until the last week he would stay exactly where I put him on his back. It's when he wakes up that he moves, and that is scooting up on his back to the top of the pnp.

The last few nights however he has rolled into his side when I lay him down on his back. He wakes up on his back usually after scooting up again.

I don't stay to watch him and I don't have a video monitor. I just know that he gets put down one way (fully asleep) and if I check him at the very first peep he is still there.
  • He is all over the crib. Night before last was the only time it's happened to his detriment. He woke up twice! Each time he was kind of trapped in the corner of his crib, and didn't know how to get himself out. Cue screaming baby.

  • Mine will sleep like a rock for about the first two hours of sleep (although he sleeps on side or belly. I can't get him to stay on his back anymore) and then he will scoot himself around the crib using the slats and his hands/feet, and roll front/back back/front and all over the place. he cracks me up! this morning he managed to get himself face-first into the corner of the crib on his belly and couldn't figure out how to move from the corner. I had to get up and pull him out...then he went right back to sleep. so awesome.

  • I chose SS. Most nights all he does is roll up on his side, but sometimes I find that he's rotated himself 90 or 180 degrees.

  • Audrey is my wild one; she kicks, rolls and spins in circles. Rhys is pretty stationary until Audrey boots him in the face…
I think we're moving to separate cribs this weekend.

  • Mine sounds exactly like OP. We have still moments, then all of a sudden huge flails and the picking up and slamming down legs. Baby sleep seems exhausting.

We still swaddle and she's still in a small bassinet, but I chose a little of both because she squirms around. I'm afraid to attempt the transition out of the swaddle since she doesn't sleep well when she gets her arms out.

    This exactly.
