Hi, Moms! I'm curious: Where is your LO in the "falling asleep" spectrum? My LO is 15 weeks today. We used to be able to put him down at bedtime "drowsy but awake" and he would go to sleep on his own, but for the past couple of weeks that hasn't worked. We eventually have to get him to sleep then put him down--but he still sleeps great at night.
For naps we have never been able to do "drowsy but awake." At this point he takes all of his naps in his crib, but he has to be rocked to sleep first. Then we can put him down.
So what does your LO do? Can he or she go to sleep on his or her own? Do you rock to sleep? Where does your LO nap at this point?
Have a great day, Moms!
Re: Falling Asleep - Bedtime and Naps
Naps are all over the place, but that's probably my fault. We have a routine, but I don't use the same location for naps. Selfishly, I just don't want to be a prisoner in my house because of her nap schedule, especially because right now she's a cat-napper. So we do some naps in the crib, some in the swing, the car, or out and about (when we can). Unless it's the swing or the car, I can't put her down awake. A few times she's magically fallen asleep on her play mat or in the crib, but that's not typical.
Right now, this works for us. We haven't had any overtired meltdowns in a long time a thanks to the routine. So my feeling right now is, if it's not broke, don't fix it!
Naps are hit or miss. First nap of the day is in his crib and he puts himself to sleep, but after that it's a free for all. He'll sleep in the Bjorne, the swing, on me....and he usually has to rocked to sleep. Naps are hard, but I'm trying to work on a routine.

Dear Son born 5/28/14
I have a few more weeks of leave, so I have just diligently started to work the transition to his crib for naps and putting him down drowsy but awake. Baby steps here. He is breaking out of his swaddle, so we are working to remove that at the same time. God help us all!
