Trying to Get Pregnant

*Flame Free Newbie Playdate!*

Seems like a good time for a newbie playdate!

This thread is for anyone - newbies, lurkers, or regs - who have a dumb (or not so dumb) question they'd like answered. You can ask anything, as long as it's not "Am I pregnant?"

This is flame free, so ask away! Hopefully some of the knowledgable ladies on this board will help out with answers.

Re: *Flame Free Newbie Playdate!*

  • I just went off BCP two weeks ago, and I finished out the pack. Does it make most sense for me to consider the first day of placebo pills as CD 1, or first day of my (fake) period, or first day completely off the pills? But seriously... Am I Pregant?

  • @KonaCoffeeBean I would count the first day of your withdrawal bleeding (fake period) as CD1.
  • I'm glad this was posted! I'm not sure where on the bump community to ask this, I have postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome or POTS, I was wondering if anyone else here is ttc with the same condition and how it's going for them?

I have some 4 week, 5 week and 6 week "bump" photos in my camera roll on my phone from 2 pregnancies I had which both ended. It makes me sad to see them when I scroll thru my photos but I can't bring myself to erase them yet.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!!!!!
    P.s. But AM I pregnant?

Now, I 100 percent know I am not KTFU, and if there was any doubt about that, today's massive temp drop + period starting confirms that.  My question is, is this common in Wondfos, or is it just a weird batch of tests, or am I, in fact, peeing on a stick incorrectly?

You can download one of those apps that hide your pictures. I have one called "Photo Vault." It's password protected so you can add your pictures and then delete the originals and they won't show up with the rest of your photos. Sorry for your loss!

Today is CD1, which puts last cycle at 34 days with a 10 or 11 day LP.  Is that too short and something to worry over?  I've heard/read 12-16
Anything under 10 is what you want to worry about, so you should be okay. Just keep watching if you have more cycles.

Yup. Had the same reaction a few months ago. Used 3, had heart attack, and bought a FRER only to get a BFN. Googling "positive Wondfo test" for both OPK and HPT was helpful. Damn Wondfos.

  • I have one...
is it normal to be this stressed the f out on my first month? I have somehow convinced myself that the mirena I had has messed up my fertility and I am terrified. I had a period (light) 10 days post removal but even with the crosshairs from FF I am not 100% sure I ovulated and I have balled my eyes out over it. I know that it is pathetic but I feel a lot of anxiety about it.

I was, and still am, anxious because it's something I think we are generally poorly prepared for until we start doing it. If it wasn't a stressful and anxiety-inducing process, this board simply would not exist! Chin up, you're not even close to alone :)

  • I have been thinking about whether an embryo can "fall out," so to speak, if it's getting ready to implant and we do something to jar it. Like strenuous stuff or heavy lifting or pooping. Lol. Dr. Google says no. However I read some doc messages that say basically no but sometimes they tell patients to avoid heavy exercise during 2WW "just in case."

  • I'm glad this was posted! I'm not sure where on the bump community to ask this, I have postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome or POTS, I was wondering if anyone else here is ttc with the same condition and how it's going for them?
I do not have POTS, but my best friend does.

She is currently 32 weeks pregnant, I have been helping her throughout her pregnancy. Unfortunately, she had been misdiagnosed and treated for the wrong condition previously to get pregnant. She has been seeing a high-risk OB group that specializes in endocrine disorders for her pregnancy. The Doctors can't switch her to the right treatment until the baby is born, so she has had some issues with maintaining her fluid balance/blood pressure. I have gone to most of her Doctor's appointments with her specialist, they have told her that if she was on the right medications her pregnancy would be much easier.

The pregnancy was a surprise for her so I can't really say how it effected TTC. I would discuss TTC with your specialist if you haven't, and also what to expect when you get pregnant.

I'm sorry for your POTS diagnosis. I have watched my friend struggle for years and it is heartbreaking what she has gone through. Feel free to PM me!
@abigailwaslike‌ - I have POTS as well. It doesn't have any real effects for TTC (that I'm aware of), but my doctors did tell me they would need to monitor my blood pressure carefully while pregnant since it can be so variable. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions/need to vent.

  • I'm not really that new...buuutttttt I still have a dumb question.

My chart (so far cuz I only started temping recently) seems very erratic.  I don't really have constant temps.  Just up down up down up down.  Am I doing it wrong?  I know temping when you wake up after 3+ hours of sleep is important.  I'm a pretty light sleeper.  I usually start waking up around 4:30, toss and turn and doze on and off for another two hours, then get up for the day at 6:30.  I usually grab my thermometer around 4:30 when I'm first aware that I'm awake.  I temp...but since I can't see in the dark I just throw it in my drawer without looking.  It has a memory so I just check the memory when I get up and can turn a light on.  I feel like I'm doing it wrong.  Granted there's only a week or so of temping data.  I just feel like it should be more constant than 98.6, 97.3, 98.6, 97.9, etc.  To me that seems all over the place.

Thought this when i first started using wondfos.... there is a hump like thing that contains the initial dye.. sometimes a bit sticks making it look like a fake line.... when you see a positive you will know it!

Also def try the wondfo wrapper cup... these ladies inspired me and it totes works (aka I pee on my hand statistically just as much)

I just stick it in a little bit, enough that it's in there but not far enough that I'm fishing it out.

  • Oh me! I have a question. It's been in the back of my mind for over a year and a half. I'm piggy backing off a post that made me think of it. I EPd for 6 months. DS is over 2 now. I leak BM every cycle near ovulation and only near ovulation. I wouldn't call it BM actually, it's yucky. Obviously it's hormone related but I want to know the real scientific why of it if anybody knows.
  • I'll play.  I've been hot all the damn time for over 6 months now, whereas before I was always cold. Last gyno appt went fine, but is it crazy for me to worry about going through premenopause? I feel like an old lady with hot flashes all the time.

oh, @MrsLawson15 - why do you have so many open circles?  Is it because you are temping at a different time each morning?  If you are at least getting 3 hours of sleep before those temps, I'd suggest not giving a time to FertilityFriend.  My time is permanently set to "n/a" because I have no time for open circles.

I temp between 4am and 8am each morning - depends on when I wake up to pee.  I offer no time, get no open circles, and see a shift each and every month.  Just a suggestion to keep the open circles and your concerns at bay.

You can do this?!? Mind blown. Thank you @Joy2611‌!

  • I temp and then go back to sleep as well. I set an alarm pretty early so that I know I'm in the middle of my sleep, and so that it's always at the same time. I look at it with the light from my phone and write it down (because I forget if I don't lol), and then enter it into FF once I'm awake.

As long as you're temping after 2-3 hours of solid sleep, and around the same time each day, you should be good. Good luck!
