Stroller/carseat set. And a Starbucks gift card so I can get my cappucino and cheese danish fixes!
And now I must have a cheese danish. So thanks for that. Someone got me a GC for a facial for my baby shower. That was nice, too. I like gifts that are just for the mom, and not necessarily all about the baby.
I think at my shower for DD, though, I was probably most excited about her stroller. It was our one real "splurge" item on the registry, and I was pretty surprised to receive it. A bunch of my mom's girlfriends bought it together as a group gift. I still really love that thing.
STM so the only gifts we received for this baby is a onesie and a sleeper. I guess I was just most excited to get a card congratulating us on the baby, since except for these too people there has been very little recognition that a baby is on the way.
Last pregnancy my favorite gift was that my ILs gifted us a cleaning service for three months after the baby was born.
My crib & dresser set. In love with it so much! I am so
thankful for all the love we got from all our family. We got mostly gift cards
but we live out of state so they made it easier for us to travel with. We have
bought almost everything we need off of that. Was nice to lift some of that
financial hit off of our shoulders. Putting LO room together has been so much fun
Children's books. I had a Once Upon a Time/Build a Library themed shower. It was amazing, and all guests brought a book in lieu of a card. Most of the gifts given were from the registry, super thankful for them of course, but I loved the surprises of opening different books.
Also, I loved getting clothes, since I've purchased none thus far....MIL got baby girl a newborn jean jacket that is attached to a shirt...it is hysterically adorable.
One more coat of paint for the wall tonight and then I can finally start decorating!
I still have all the basics from my first child so I'm not expecting anything big. I would be absolutely giddy if I received some cute boy cloth diapers though.
This is our 3rd baby, so I wasn't expecting to get any gifts, but I was asking a new friend about her daughter's bamboo A&A blankets, because I was thinking about getting some, and she told me not to buy them because she was planning to give me some as a baby gift. So excited!
Not a shower gift (just a general baby gift) but a new washer/dryer set from DH's grandmother. She asked what we needed and that was the first thing that came to mind (that we still had left).
Married 10/06
Baby Girl "C" arrived on 10/07/14 (39 weeks, 6 days)
I swore that I would never get a mamaroo. Well we registered for it and apparently it's been purchased!!!! So excited!
My mom also bought us 4 large Rubbermaid tubs full of clothing, blankets, etc. very certain we won't NEED to buy any clothing. So excited.
Shower next weekend.
We were given one that is a hand-me-down. It is awesome. I can't wait to use it for more than just weirding my dogs out.
We haven't received it yet because it's still being made, but my BFF knows someone who makes these awesome baby blankets and she ordered us a Seahawks one. Dh is really excited to be having a boy so this just adds to it.
My mom also surprised us with a pack n play and swing, so that was pretty exciting too.
Crib, stroller, car seat! big expensive stuff, YAY! and our Ergo baby. The last thing we didn't get that we REALLY need is the crib mattress...out come the gift cards!
We've been so blessed with gifts from our friends and family. It's hard to choose a favorite. Like the quilt in this picture. How cool is that?
My favorite small gift is this pair of polka dot overalls. So cute.
My favorite big gift is probably the hot air balloon mobile. I put it on my registry NEVER thinking anyone would buy it, but one of my sweet besties did. I got to choose the colors for it and it should arrive around the same time as LO.
This is baby number 3, so no gifts yet. One of my BFFs usually makes a special gift, so I'm excited to see what it'll be. For Ds2, she made crossstitched zoo animal bibs.
A twin sized bed. Our biggest expense was buying a bed for DD so DS could have her bed so LO could have the crib, and my coworker bought a bigger bed, so he gave us his twin.
Other than that, I received Yoda slippers and a robot lovey that I didn't even know existed.
Probably the gorgeous crib and dresser from my dad and stepmom. We had planned on getting a cheaper version from Target and we were ok with that. Then my dad and stepmom come out of left field and insisted they buy us this top of the line, crazy expensive, beautiful furniture. We were so taken aback, and we still can't believe they bought it for us. Then, at my shower last weekend, my stepmom also bought us every Jungle Jill item to decorate the nursery. We're pretty blessed. :x
my dad passed away almost 3 months ago now. A friend of mine turned his flannel shirt into a blanket for the baby. Best gift I could have ever recieved!!!!
That was one of my favorites too! Which type of Ergo did you receive? I can't wait to try it out. I'm trying to decide if I want to get the infant insert or just use our Boba wrap until he is big enough to use the carrier without the insert. What are you going to do?
We got the original, I have been having the same question about the infant insert. I wanted to get the K'Tan as well, I feel like they'll both work for different situations and I can use the K'Tan before he fits in the Ergo -- so basically the same plan as you!
Weighing in on the Ergo discussion -
We have an Ergo Sport (picked this over the original because I was told that it would be a better fit on my big dude of a DH), and have the infant insert. I think I maybe used the infant insert twice. It was okay, but was kind of hot and when DD was tiny, the Moby wrap was easier and more comfortable for both of us. This time around, I'm making myself a copycat K'Tan, because it seems like it will be even easier than the Moby was. If I had known about K'Tans before DD was born, I probably would've gone straight to that over a Moby.
I think if you are dead set on only having one carrier, an Ergo with the infant insert is the way to go. But if you're open to other options, there are better/easier/more comfortable ways to wear an infant.
With my first the swing was my favorite gift. With this one we haven't had a shower yet, but he got a stuffed pillow rug. It is so soft and cute. Not really a neesity, but I love it.
My sister is due with her second one 2 days before me (I'm a FTM). We plan to spend the first few months together at my Mom's place. She sent over Thing One and Thing Two onsies along with a few more matching onsies. I'm just so excited to share the experience with her!

The Ergo was my all time favorite piece of baby gear. A friend loaned me the infant insert, but when we started using the carrier, at 5 weeks my son was already too long for it. This time we'll be using the Ergo Baby Wrap until LO is big enough for the original. I hope you guys love it as much as I do.

That is the sweetest gift! What a wonderful friend and I'm so sorry for your loss.

I had my baby shower Sunday and we also did the book instead of a card. There were a few books with cute messages inside, which I love!
My favorite gift, though, is the book my parents gave us. It's one of those recordable books, so grandma and grandpa can read to her whenever she wants. So sentimental!
My MIL made a baby quilt with decorations on it representing significant places and people from babys life. She put on a pumpkin (for babys bday in October), a horse (babys Chinese zodiac), a decal of our pet cat, the symbols for the provinces in china where each grandparent was born, the Iowa flag (where I was born) and California flag (where DH was born...) so lots of sentimentality went into it.
Baby shower is this weekend, I am having a hard time picking a favorite thing. I guess it would be our stroller. I am just excited to see everyone and then go on a shopping spree with DH after the shower.
Definitely our crib and matching dresser! My parents and sister got them both for us and they're in boxes waiting to be put together this weekend! I'm also so grateful for all the time and thought my mom and sister are putting into my shower. My sister was my maid of honor 5 years ago for my wedding and technically co hosted my bridal shower. At the time she had just turned 21 and did a great job but didn't have much input. This time she is completely taking the lead in every detail. I'm just so proud of the amazing woman she has become and feel so grateful that we are so close! I can't wait for my beautiful shower! The gifts are just a bonus!
