Silly mommy fails?

Mine is:

Tonight, in preparation for taking a shower, I nursed LO both sides so that he was nice and full and snugly. Then, I put him in the vibrating/bouncy seat thing (for the first time). Aaaaaaand it made him vomit. Sorry little bug.

Re: Silly mommy fails?

  • I lost my handling on a bottle and dropped it on her head. She fussed for a minute and was fine. Pretty sure I cried more.

And I washed BF phone. I swore I even checked the pockets but I still missed it. Luckily it still works!

Oh praise Jesus I'm not the only one who's done this! She had vomit in her ear. Her EAR! I was alone running through the house in a panic because I had no clue what to do. I've also dropped a thing of wipes on her head. Cried my eyes out. She slept through it. Poor kid, she's not even two weeks old and her mother is a hot mess.
  • I took both kids grocery shopping. Toddler in the cart seat and I was wearing baby so I could put groceries in the cart. I had to get bags out of the back hatch of my car and when I shut it, I smashed the hatch down on baby's head. He cried for a second then was fine but I had to keep making sure he was breathing the whole time we shopped. I was more traumatized than he was. It will also be the last time I take both shopping by myself for a while!

  • Put a onesie on backwards the other day on an already fussy baby. Sorry baby boy!!!
  • Where to begin... Hmmm did the ol' put DS in swing 10 mins after he downed 3 oz. upchucked everywhere.
Scratched him several times with my nails (I didn't think I have nails..)
    Dropped cellphone on his tummy.

The list could continue. But reading other posts make me feel like I'm not alone! I cried when I did these things. How am I this clumsy?!
  • Just let LO sleep for 6 1/2 hours by accident and feel like a huge failure for not waking her to feed.

How old is your LO? I'm sure if your LO was hungry, they would have woken you up. :)

12 days. She cluster fed every hour for 3 hours prior to the 6 1/2 hour stretch, so maybe that's why she was able to last so long?

  • I hope this isn't a mom fail but yesterday it had been 48 hrs without a poppy diaper. She's formula feed, I've heard its common, but wanted to personally check. I call the ped and leave a message. She then gave me a huge poop and 2 more last night. That's great I was relieved. .

I called back this morning because her rye has been crusty and goopy almost 3 days and she makes weird noises when She eats. And it wouldn't hurt for him to look at her stump and confirm its okay.

I have an app in 2 hrs. I feel like a crazy FTM. I'm even going to nursing school. But its so much harder to take care of someone when you just dont know how. My instincts get me somewhere but I just worry I'm not caring for her well enough sometime s

So my son was really small, much smaller than any baby I've ever babysat. So I changed his first diaper while he was in his isolette I was sooo nervous. OK BAM I did it. So I'm feeding him and realize I'm all wet on the front. I let his nurse know I think he leaked out of his diaper. She took him and changed him quickly, and called me over laughing hysterically. I had been in such a hurry because I was scared he'd pee on me I diapered his penis OUTSIDE of the diaper.

This is awesome. And totally something i'd do if LO was a boy!
  • In a 24 hr period, I clipped my baby's finger when I was trying to cut his nails, and then I accidentally let him get sunburned when I was out to lunch with a moms group.... Womp womp.

Looking forward to busy days and sleepless nights effective 8/2/14!

  • I'm so relieved I'm not the only mom whose dropped a bot
  • I'm also guilty of dropping my phone on his head trying to take a picture

While breastfeeding I had a sneeze sneak up on me and I sneezed in his face

I pinched his toe in his car seat buckle

I clipped the tip of his finger while trying to get his nail

Putting them all down here I feel terrible all over again
  • @jendem8‌ you poor thing! Did everything turn out okay? I seem to be unable to time diaper changes well. Sometimes DD takes forever to finish pooping. She had 3 poop explosions while I had her diaper off today because I thought she was finished. H came home and changed her with no problem. Ugh.
Yes, her temperature was normal, and they just thought that she needed her nose cleaned out a bit. She still does it from time to time, but I've been assured that it's nothing to worry about... I just hope it stops soon, because it does worry me every time!

  • This thread is so good for all of us! I'm laughing as I read (which hurts by the way) ticking off how many of these I've done with one or more children.

Today, I had to go to the bathroom so badly, I put sleeping DD2 in the swing and my phone droid it if my robe pocket on her head.

No children were harmed in this week's Mommy fail......

At the pediatrician yesterday, she was running through a checklist of questions, one of which was what formula I have been using. I replied "Esbilac", and she looked at me like I had four heads. She's like, I don't know what that is. After a brief moment of confusion/arguing, I realized I had meant to say Enfamil. Esbilac is puppy/kitten milk replacer. I apologized and said I'm tired, words are hard, and clearly I've been working in veterinary medicine for too damn long.

What's awesome is my first thought was to nod in agreement with your formula while reading, then to frown as to why your dr had t heard of it lol.

I've been off work for a month and I still refer to LO's hands as paws.

My LO has a port wine stain on her hand.....or in my terms, her left front foot.
