Well check did not go well UPDATED

I am not sure if this something you put into SPAM or its own thread. I dont want to be an AW....

Had 9 month well check today. I posted about a week ago that I was worried Aaron doesn't crawl. He also doesn't pull himself up. well the Dr is "slightly concerned" also. we are being sent for evaluation. and she told there was something in his file (from the Childrens hospital) about an issue with one of his reflexes which I was NEVER told. The Dr said that there are many 9 months old who don't stand or crawl yet but because of his spinal issues she doesn't want to wait to check him out.

I almost cried but my DD was there so i held it together. He already has another round of ultrasounds, bladder/anal reflex test, plus a developemental check set up in the next few months.

Also I told her about how he vomits and has a very bad diaper after yogurt well she said to stop all dairy until he is a year, he may have a milk allergy.

I need a big glass of wine.

Update: So I called his Neurosurgeon this morning (this is the primary Dr who deals with his spina bifida). They looked in his file and they told me that all notes they have show Aaron has NO issues. So now I am waiting to hear back from the pedi the source of his wrong info. I am hoping she just mis-read the report. anyway i feel relieved.

I also had a big glass of wine (8oz, Im a generous pour) last night. i was so sleepy I ended up falling asleep on the couch right after.

Thank you everyone for all your words of encouragement. It means a lot. It is hard sometimes because he is developing well and i "forget" he has spina bifida and I can kind of put it the past. but then things like yesterday knock me back. But I trust his Drs who all say he has a very bright outlook. and I am so happy the Dr who would know for sure if he had a reflex issue says he does NOT.

Sorry it didn't go well. I can't believe they didn't tell you about the problem with one of his reflexes, that would bother me also. I will be praying for you that he starts moving soon!

I'm sorry it didn't go well. Your right that lots of babies aren't crawling or pulling up at 9 months. I know it's tough to not worry when you have the spinal cord issue, as well. Good luck with your next round of testing.

These tests have been schedule for a while. they are all part his monitoring due to his spina bifida. all tests have been normal so far so this is extra upsetting.

I'm so sorry the check up didn't go as well as you'd hoped. It's a good thing the dr wants these tests now and not later. I hope everything turns out fine and he is okay. Good luck with the tests. I'm sending positive thoughts your way.

Thanks everyone. I am feeling a little calmer. he has had so many checks and he has checked out fine so I think the pedi is just being extra cautious.

Hugs! I'm hoping it's nothing serious. I would be mad as well about the reflex issue. That certainly should have been mentioned early and maybe they could have suggested ot or pt.

I'm sorry you're going through that with LO. FWIW my LO has pretty much all those same things...she is almost 9 months & hasn't crawled yet (although she does "scoot"), doesn't pull up, & had that same reaction with dairy. I'm not worried at all, but I understand your pedi may want to be extra cautious because of what your LO is already dealing with. FX it's nothing serious & just him developing at his own pace!

HUGS dear friend! Hang in there, all the signs are positive at this point and remember plenty of 'normal' 9 month olds aren't crawling. I know it's hard not to worry. Wine is good. :-)
