Success after IF

PIO Shot Question (TMI warning)

So, the last few days I've had an issue giving myself (yup, figured that one out) my PIO shot.  Hubs was having this too the last couple he did for me.

So, stick, draw back to make sure no blood, inject, pull out, and SQUIRT!!!! a SHOT of what looks like blood and PIO spurts out of the injection site, literally onto the floor.  Dribble afterward, and then it stops.  I've called dr/nurse, and am waiting for a call back.  Anyone have this happen?

Re: PIO Shot Question (TMI warning)

  • Yea, it's nothing to worry about.  I once had a literal geyser of blood shoot out but it's fine.

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

I've been doing all kinds of injections for a long time (insulin/Enbrel/IVF/ and I'm a nurse) if you are able too, I always prefer to slowly count to 5 and then pull the needle out. It gives the injected substance a little time to disperse and then it's less likely to squirt out :) but if not, it's nbd.

  • yes I had it happen with PIO a few times, it was always weird b/c no blood had come back when I initially pulled back on the syringe. However, no long lasting effects except a freaked out DH.
