I feel like any reputable massage pace would not do that. There is a reason babies should stay in as long as they can. I am a postpartum nurse and there is so much more testing your little one can go through if they are born early. Is it more important to you to not deliver on or around a holiday than to let your baby develop as long as they can??
After the 24th- My due date if the baby hasn't come I will start doing some walking and stuff like that as I would love not to go over into the new year but if baby takes its time then so be it
Never heard of such a thing and would not do it even if I was due Christmas. What if your baby would have arrived after Christmas? You could potentially be taking away 3-4 weeks of cooking time.
Yay, glad to see lots of sane responses. By all means, enjoy a massage, but generally let baby cook as long as he/she needs to. Unless your doc or mw are concerned, I wouldn't do anything to try to speed up labor.

In loving memory of sweet baby HP, and all our angel babies. Forever in our hearts.
I will do absolutely nothing to try and selfishly bring my baby to come earlier than he's ready, unless medically necessary. Last year, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists redefined "full term". It was redefined "to improve newborn outcomes and expand efforts to prevent nonmedically indicated deliveries before 39 weeks of gestation."
The following represent the four new definitions of ‘term’ deliveries:
Early Term: Between 37 weeks 0 days and 38 weeks 6 days Full Term: Between 39 weeks 0 days and 40 weeks 6 days Late Term: Between 41 weeks 0 days and 41 weeks 6 days Postterm: Between 42 weeks 0 days and beyond
Baby will come when he or she is ready. And I'm just about positive there isn't a massage in the world that will force labor. Even so, they likelihood of you actually delivering on Christmas is pretty slim.

When I went to get a pedicure the girl warned me about certain spots on your foot that could potentially induce labor. She pointed out the areas so I would know if I got another pedicure and could make sure the person avoided these areas. Gotta let baby stay in there for as long as they need
This is insane to me. Yes it's uncomfortable to be very, very pregnant, I've been there, but I would never selfishly do something to make him come out early for any reason other than my OB telling me it was necessary. I went into preterm labor at 32 weeks and it was the scariest 24 hours of my life. This boy will cook as long as he wants.
D14 November Siggy Challenge: The feels of 3rd trimester...
I had weekly prenatal massages just because they were lovely. Water broke just hours after my last massage at 38 wks. But my little was completely cooked. Wouldn't try to bring it on but was pleasantly surprised that I got to see him 2 weeks sooner than planned
There are pressure points on the ankles that are used to induce/ease labor. I know of many nurses, doulas, midwives, and OBs that would encourage massaging those pressure points after early labor has been confirmed. I agree with PP to let your baby cook!
I took long power walks with my mom in the afternoon and gave birth only 3 days early with my first. I was so ready for labor baby came out like a rocket. I only needed one stitch. Hopefully I will have a smooth labor process with this one but I do kind of hope to deliver my angel this year for tax purposes. I'm due Xmas eve so hopefully I don't go into labor that day either but you never know because when baby decides its time then it's time.
According to my massage place woman do come and get a message to induce labor but that's always in lieu of being medically induced, or at least how I took it. It was explained to me that there are trigger points that when massaged might induce labor but I'm pretty sure your body has to be ready for it to really happen. When I was pregnant with DS my OBGYN told me to have sex because there is pitocin in sperm, that was 2 days before my EDD. That night DH and I DTD and went into labor. DS was born the day before his EDD. My doctor said walking doesn't do anything toward bringing on labor. IDK if the sex helped start my labor or it was just time but that's my story.
@danisgossipgirl, I don't disagree with you. I didn't say massages induce labor but I have heard if it. I'm also not saying I believe it to be true. Supposedly semen can soften the cervix (possibly). There is only a small amount of natural pitocin in semen, so you're right if your body isn't ready it won't work. Just so happened for me I had sex and started contractions pretty immediately after. Sex was the only thing my doctor said that could possibly get things going.
Really?!? We are doing the "how can I induce labor early for my own convenience regardless of the consequences for my baby" posts already?!? Come on, I was sure we had at least a month or two before this got started.
Lol @iloveac no. There isn't pitocin in sperm. There are prostaglandins, and cervidil is a synthetic prostaglandin often used as part of induction. But the dose in sperm is not the same as the dose in a medical induction. It can help ripen the cervix in preparation for labor but that's not the same thing. Pressure points MAY help in early labor, but there's no evidence they will induce labor that's not ready to begin on it's own. Why would anyone ever endure awful pitocin contractions if they could just have sex and get a massage instead?
Bahaha. Now there's pitocin in sperm. Oy. Kinda blows my mind someone thinks this.

I'm afraid @danigossipgirl is right. Prostaglandins in semen not pitocin. Pitocin is a synthetic version of oxytocin which is produced in your brain.
There is a lady I'm looking at for the same massage is a registered dula and masseuse and does what is called an induction massage. She limits this to women who are in their 39th week or later. It just promotes the release of pitocin to possibly induce labor. If the baby comes then, well guess what gals?! its the baby's time. You bunch sure are pretentious about when the baby comes out. Know what, nature doesnt always know better. what about ladies that have to have scheduled c-sections? How is your jackass opinion supposed to make them feel? Breech babies? High risk? I've talked to my doctor at length about this and said this is not a dangerous practice and has OK'd it if I choose to have it done myself. Its not 'MUD' because you've never heard about it. Its called google.
Oh and trying to avoid a christmas birthday? I'm all for it. I have a Christmas birthday and it SUCKS.
After 37 weeks, what's 2 more? Certainly not worth the risk. I think the baby's health should be more important than celebrating the holidays at home. You'll have plenty of opportunities to celebrate Christmas - preferably, I'd hope, with your healthy child.

Two things- your Doula will do massage after 39 weeks, not at 37ish just to avoid a holiday.
Second, to the bolded- My kids are all csection babies. As I said, one was 32 weeks, second was 38 weeks, and third was 37 weeks. I would have preferred all to have been naturally full term. No one saying that babies should have every opportunity to grow in utero could make me feel badly, facts are facts.

There is a world of difference between having a baby early due to medical necessity and trying to self-induce due to some weird date preference. I cannot imagine any doctor advocating DIY induction at 37ish weeks in order to avoid a holiday.
And, just sayin but I bet having a permanent health condition due to being born too early would suck a whole lot more than a Christmas birthday. Google says there is a higher chance of all kinds of things with preemies.
FYI, I have c-section babies and your argument doesn't make any sense in the context of the OP

This reads like a bunch of nonsensical jibberish. I can't even bring myself to give an actual response because it's so laughably idiotic.
The laughs are much appreciated.

Why do I recall your SN from another thread where the OP was just "asking for our thoughts" but wasn't doing it herself? If not that then it was another thread fairly recently.
