Would you worry?

J had his 4 month well baby appointment this morning. He looks enormous to me and even gained 3 lbs since his 2 month appointment. But his ped asked me twice if I think I'm making enough milk for him. Nothing accusational. He dropped from the 78th to 68th percentile but his height/weight ratio is fine. So of course I thought nothing of it until I got home and now I'm worried that he's not getting enough to eat. He's 16 lbs 5 oz. Thoughts?

I think he's fine. My LO is in the 1.3 percentile and 11 months 18.2 pounds. The percentiles are ridiculous and jumping an ounce can move you up or down. I wouldn't worry.

He is fine! DS dropped from 70th to 40th to 10th to 5th and my pedi never even questioned my supply. 3lb in 2 months is great!

Yep, I would NOT worry. E was barely 12 lbs at 4 months. He's fine.

Thanks, ladies. I think it was more the drop in percentile that caused me to worry. But I didn't realize such a small change affects percentile. Thanks for the reassurance!

My ds was born in about the 100th percentile for weight. He then dropped to the 25th and stayed there for a long time. He finally moved back up to the 70th after 2yrs old. He just isn't a huge guy. I wouldn't worry about it at all. I figure someone has to make up the lower percentiles.

Ummm, he's as big as DD who is 13mo. Her pedi was so excited at her last apt because she is now touching the growth chart, before she was below it. My pedi hasn't been concerned because all my babies have just been small, but they follow an appropriate growth arc for themselves.

So, no, I think you should be overjoyed to have such a nice, above average size baby and that you must produced an adequate amount of milk. No worries!!
