Does anyone else drink Diet Coke?

  • My doctor said the aspirtaine is dangerous due to it breaking down to formaldehyde

I find it very interesting to hear what other doctors say about certain things during pregnancy! My doctor said ok to lunch meat, but no to sushi. While others have said sushi is fine. By friends doctor told her a glass of wine now and again is fine, mine said absolutely not! I know doctors are suppose to know it all, but I find it funny opinions vary based on experience/practice

  • I say go for it! My doctors said do not deprive yourself of a normal life. One a day cannot be bad! My mother drank a can of diet Pepsi a day while pregnant with my sister and I and her doctor never raised a red flag. My mother in law lived off Mt Dew while pregnant with all 3 of her kids.

Best part is to just always make sure baby is healthy! Doctors will tell you when enough is enough. ENJOY YOURSELF!
  • I don't think there is any risk that your DC with cause miscarriage or birth defects.

Personally, I worry about more subtle issues that putting weird chemicals into my body may (or may not) cause. Will my baby have more of a chance of developing asthma, food allergies, ADD, depression? I don't consume artificial sugar or MSG right now because I don't want to take any chances. However, I also don't judge women who make a different decision than I did.

  • I drank regular and diet soda while pregnant with my first son and I do with this pregnancy too. My son is perfectly healthy. I don't drink a ton, but if I'm in the mood, I go for it. There are far worse things I could ingest. I wouldn't sweat the small stuff!
  • I drank a lot of DC before getting KU. Like the op, I cut it out during the first trimester but now typically have a can every other day or so.

I agree! It goes to show not everything is so black and white!
