My toddler is killing me today. He ran around the living room crying and dramatically throwing himself on the floor for 10 minutes and would only calm down after lots of snuggles. Apparently his molars are pushing through more, this kid is seriously the slowest tether in the face of the planet. I can only hope that he takes a really long nap after all of the crying.
This is probably more of a MMBF, but I'm posting it here anyway. DH and I overspent on our groceries this week, and we are on a spending moratorium for the rest of the week. This would normally be fine, but I'm out of root beer. I need root beer. It comes from a local brewery (Saint Arnold's, for you Houstonians) and is in a real glass bottle and I feel a little more like a normal human being when I can drink it. I'm so mad that I didn't think to add it to the shopping list before we decided to stop spending.
My DD is almost 2.5 and she still needs 4 molars and 2 canines. She didn't get her first tooth until 15 months. We are definitely slow teethers over here.
Amanda is 13.5mo and she still only has the front eight. At this age, Marnie had all of her teeth, except her 2y molars (which came at 18mo). It was SO NICE to get teething out of the way early (she got her first teeth at 3mo, had 8 by 6mo, and everything else by 10mo). This continuous teething is driving me bananas! I think we're working on canines right now. They're not fun.
@ChickenOnSunday yup introduced all of those.. he'll eat/pick at puffs (usually ends up with like 10 in a fist and hulk smashes them).. but yogurt drops and mum mums he just throws.
Conversely, my dog refuses to eat his meal until after DS is done since he gets what Henry throws on the floor lol then he eats his food. I think he's gonna end up fat.
Which purees are a favorite? If Henry likes apples than maybe you could try a baked apple and even use a little cinnamon and sugar to sweeten. Cut the apple into sticks before you bake so it is easier for him to pick up. You could do the same with a sweet potato.
one of the first finger foods MJ would eat was my homemade sweet potato fries.
super easy to make, just peel the potatoes, cut them into thick french fry sliced, toss in olive oil and cinnamon and bake. The full recipe is on wholesomebabyfood.com
I never peel my sweet potatoes for fries - when the skin crisps up, it's absolutely delicious! Also try adding a little bit of curry powder and garam masala (sparingly on the latter). My kids will eat a sweet potato each if I let them....... Back when I was single, sometimes that would be dinner for me - a baked sweet potato drowning in butter and salt. SO GOOD!
Oh, and thanks to @ChickenOnSunday's post, I'm craving deep fried zucchini. Not pickle chips, but GAWD, that's the first thing that came to mind. Dipped in tzatziki... *faints with delight*
We might be having zucchini sticks and sweet potato fries for dinner. That sounds disgusting. And yet delicious.
@thegoodpotato I *WISH* henry had 8! he only has 4!!!!! We've been in some serious teething pain for about a week (with diaper rash) so I'm thinking we might have 6 soon...
Guys I think my rear end is expanding more than I realize. I just walked through a parking lot and bumped into a car so hard I set off its alarm. I honestly didn't think I was even close to the car. I should be walking a dog now but I'm hiding in its apartment because I'm afraid someone is going to yell at me if I go back out.
Just wait until you're enormous and try to slide sideways between two parked cars..... and figure out you're actually skinnier front-ways than you are side-ways.
First time that happened, I had to go out and eat a blizzard because I was sad.

@mandamoochie - maybe that's why he's rejecting solids. Could be eating something too hard to chew hurts his mouth? I know Amanda doesn't eat as much when she's teething....

Last pregnancy I turned next to a flimsy product stand at the grocery store and my stomach took out the whole stand. I was so embarrassed but it taught me that you have to watch the belly for that eventually.
Eta: I also hid my shame in a blizzard, it was m&m.
@thegoodpotato it's definitely possible.. as I said.. I get all paranoid somethings wrong when I see like a 9 month old eating half a raw apple and henry still eats pureed peas.
I know.. im breaking the number one mommy law of compairing my child to others... but I can't help it... :-SS
I can't stand my new principal. Shes basically taking over my job.
I'm suppose to do work orders. Shes decided shes going to do them. So today her secretary asked me where do I find the program and how do you fill one out. I showed her.
An hour later the secretary comes and finds me to tell me they don't have access yet and that I need to put one in because theres a yellow jacket nest on the playground and yellow jackets re flying everywhere.
OMG why would you wait that long to tell me!! Children where out there playing the whole time with that happening. SOmething like that I make a work order and call maintenance and tell them get here right away before a child can get hurt.
If this si how shit is going to go this year I don't want blamed for kids getting hurt because someone wants to be in charge of something thats not their job.

I'm starting to get concerned that my son doesnt want to move on from pureed foods.. I've tried giving him what we are eating, typical kids favorites, even stuff I don't particularly like just to introduce it. He takes 2 bites and the shuts down. Even like flavored oatmeal and scrambled eggs are a no go.
Any thoughts mommies of toddlers? (Ds will be 14 mo next week)
Have you tried texturizing his puréed foods? Perhaps adding a few smaller chunkier pieces so that he can start learning to chew those foods and then gradually increasing the texture until it's actually a whole piece of that food. Example: purée a banana completely and then the next time purée a banana and leave a few bigger pieces that are not completely puréed. Just a thought.

Our big problem is not only that he is a late teether, but he takes F O R E V E R for them to cut all the way through. The first part of one of the top molars cut a month ago, just as he was turning 20m, the other side has a corner cut about a week later. They've been basically stationary since, so it feels like each tooth is going to cut twice. His bottom gums are ridiculously swollen, I'm dreading those.

Im surprised the bat signal went out on tb for our 2nd shower thread.. it was up for days and so mundane (surprisingly boring until other boards joined actually) so many better threads on other bmbs... I-)
Okay. Everyone tell me that you've had tons of dental work during the second tri before and it was all fine. Having a root canal now.....
Sure I have. It was totally fine....
I haven't, but I hope it all goes well!
Well turns out I had a nasty infection below my tooth that I didn't even know about, so the root canal is better than an infection that could be passed on to babies. Well, not literally, but you get my drift. Couldn't make it on lidocaine alone, so he had to add some epinephrine which isn't ideal for pregnancy but not a huge deal. Benefits out weight the risks....
Worst part...can't even have antiinflammatories when I'm done. Tylenol anyone? What bullshit.

Twins? You mean two babies? WOW!
Team PURPLE!!
We are excited to meet William Alexander and Harper Abigail in 2015!
Had my 16 week appt and it went great! The baby was hiding in my pelvis, but once she found it we heard a good strong heartbeat. And I scheduled my anatomy scan in two weeks! I can't wait!
Just got my early admission ticket for a twice a year kids consignment sale. Hoping my AS is before it and baby cooperates so I know whether to buy bigger clothes for DS, or if I need to buy NB size girl clothes.
I ate tuna today for the first time in forever. It was amazing
My husbands grandmother was over this weekend and was basically scolding me for eating deli meats, drinking a soda, lifting a bag of groceries, and then finally she goes "you know you can't eat tuna, right?" and I just snapped and brattily said, "yeah, uh, I really don't care."
That was mature. But goddamn, can't a girl eat a tuna wrap without feeling guilty? In conclusion, enjoy that tuna.
@MrsTucker2011 me too!! The consignment sale is on the 17th and my anatomy scan is on the 15th. It works out PERFECTLY. I'm making DH take an early day from work that day to go with me lol
There is some funny stuff going on down there. :-S
It is always too early.

I think I should've rephrased my question a little better. I didn't want to get into the detail of what it looks like or any odors. I just was curious if any STM+ had dealt with it. I think my question irked or grossed people out and for that I apologize. I didn't get this far last pregnancy so I wouldn't know. So I'm sorry if this wasn't an acceptable question.

Oh, @thegoodpotato if you didn't live in Canada you would have some dinner company tonight ;-) I could eat tzatziki sauce with a spoon, fried zucchini would just put me over the edge!
In the 45 minutes since washing up from his nap DS has told me that my hair is "stinky" and "ucky" (which what he calls poop and mud), gotten into a bag of chips, stepped naked, put the dog on the counter, spilled my drink on the router, tried to take a can out of the garbage and shouted me that he had figured it how to works the locks on the cabinets including the rubber band that I added to protect against him. I guess he was just tired earlier.
Ok tuna is totally OK according to like EVERYONE. Even the lunch meat haters are ok with like 6 oz of tuna a week..
Yeah, no, I'm not saying it's not okay. She was just making me INSANE. Like, "oh, are you SURE nuts are okay?" "don't eat sweets." STOPPPPP. I'm a grown woman, and believe it or not, I've done my own research and I'm not going to go out of my way to do anything to hurt my child. I know she just comes from a different generation where she was expected to sit in a bubble for 9 months, but she has a way of making it seem like anything I do to deviate from that is open to her (very harsh) judgement. She is HORRIFIED I'll be going back to work, and keeps trying to change my mind on it.
@Izzy0927 why do people all of a sudden think they can tell you what you can and cannot do when your pregnant is my question...? Lol I didn't make my statement at you, I meant it more like it's just CRAZY that people act like that. Stand your ground and stick to your guns!
Im surprised the bat signal went out on tb for our 2nd shower thread.. it was up for days and so mundane (surprisingly boring until other boards joined actually) so many better threads on other bmbs... I-)
@mandamoochie - I recognized OP's SN... I think she's been involved in some drama on the tri boards (I think she was the one that bitched people out on hanging out on the tri boards when they're not pregnant?). Probably that's what is drawing the drama.... drama llama followers.
Reading through the comments, I see many will be watching the Emmy's... shall we make a thread and comment on dresses, cry together over the Robin Williams tribute and discuss the winners/losers/those that should have won?
