My husband and I can't agree on a name for our son and we have both come to the conclusion that we are never going to agree therefore, he won't have a name. I love the name Jonah and he likes it. He loves the name Luke and I like it. So we have decided to let complete strangers make the decision for us because as stupid as it sounds, I do value the rest of the world's opinion. Our DS is Asher if that influences you in one way or the other. Thanks in advance for your help!

Which would you choose: Jonah or Luke?

PS. If I knew how to make a clicky poll, I would've gone that route, but I would also like your thoughts on both names so this works too.

They are both great names but I'll give a slight edge to Jonah. (Know what's weird? I had two good friends who had boys within two months of DS, and their names are Jonah and Luke. And Asher would have been near the top of my list for a boy if it wasn't awful with our LN.)

I love them both...but clearly I have a preference for Luke, since it's my son's name! Truly, you can't go wrong. Great choices.

Why I love Luke: It means "light" which is really special given what a light a child is to his parents. Since you chose two Biblical names, I'm guessing there may be significance for you there. There are lots of "light" kids Bible songs that are really special to sing with a little one with that name. It's also a strong name that is not trendy in any way shape or form.

Jonah: I love the way its sounds, easy to pronounce, etc. The Bible story connection is less than awesome and I'd be wary of whale jokes on the playground. It definitely wouldn't persuade me against the name at all...but that's one point for Luke in my book.

Good luck making the big decision. They really are both great names. Maybe you just need to meet him first?

I really like Asher and Luke together. It just sounds right. Say out out loud. They sound more evenly paired than Asher and Jonah for me.

Would you do Lucas Jonah and call him Luke? I just assumed you are planning on Lucus and not just Luke. It would be like having a Tom that is not a Thomas lol.
