Last night I found a lump on the underside of one breast. It's about the size of a small pecan, but it's not painful. I have tried massaging it out but it hasn't moved yet. Are plain old lumps normal, or is this the beginning of a clogged duct?
I had non-painful lumps too that I could only assume were plugged ducts. With lots of nursing and/or pumping, heat and massage, they always went away. If it sticks around a while, couldn't hurt to see your doc.
Agree with PPs. I also got painful lumps and ones that weren't painful at all, especially in the beginning when my body was establishing supply. For me, the more I nursed (or pumped) from the side with the lumps, the smaller/softer they would get. If you don't notice the lump getting smaller/softer as time goes on though, give your dr a call.
