March 2014 Moms

December 2014 Mom here..

Was just curious, since you all have had your LO's.. Lol

How close was your due date?
Was it right on the money?
Were you early and by how much?
Or were you late?

I know everyone is different. Just wondered how accurate a due date can be.. mine is 12/13/14. Which I'm super excited about, what a cool birthday for my boy..

Thank you :-)

Re: December 2014 Mom here..

  • Congratulations!!

DS was due on 3/9. My water broke on 3/2 and he was born 3/3, so labor started 7 days early and he was born 6 days early. I had no early signs until mild contractions started the morning that my water broke. I was certain he was going to be late because I'm a FTM!

  • Congrats! Yes, everyone is definitely different relating to how early or late we went into labor. As a FTM, I assumed I would go late, but LO came over 3 weeks early. 23 days to be exact. She was born 3/7 but my due date was 3/30. I also had no signs of labor until my water broke at work on 3/6. She arrived 14 hours later.

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!

  • With my first I had her an hour before her due date (after 47 hours of active labor). My second was a month early but came via emergency cs bc he was in distress.

I think the stat is 8% of babies are born on their EDD. Average for a first time mom is like 41 weeks. There is no way to know when your baby will come.
  • DD: Her due date was February 17, 2012 but I went into labor on the 20th and she was born the 21st.
DS: I thought for sure he'd come early or on time since he wasn't my first and I had a few bouts of real contractions a week before my due date. My due date was March 4 and I went into labor and had him March 11. So my babies may just always come late. I'm apparently a vault.

It's so fun (for some of us) to obsess over the statistics and likelihood of going early, on time, or late, but there really is no way to know. Buckle in and enjoy the ride!
  • Congrats !! Having a babe and being a moms the very best thing !

My EDD was March 24 . I had DD on March 12 , I got induced due to high BP and pre -e. So basically anything could happen you may be early late or right on time !

  • Congrats! I'm a FTM and my LO arrived right on her due date! My contractions started 2 days prior. But as other PPs have said, there's really no way to know when baby will arrive.

  • Mine was 12 days late. Ftm. Doc had said from week 38 - any day now. What a big fat lie. Another doc at 41 weeks said she was already well over 9lbs. She was born a week later under 7 lbs. another big fat lie.

Relax and just enjoy these last few months. There is no way to guess or predict.
  • uhm so not sure how I want to respond,
well I want to say hope you have a healthy pregnancy and deliver within 2wks of your due date either way, but also seriously what the hell does my edd and delivery date have to do with yours

I was due on 3/14 but I was induced on 3/8, due to high blood pressure, and she came that day. You can't really predict anything. As PPs have said it's just an estimate. You could end up with a scheduled c section for all you know.

  • Congratulations and good luck! You really don't want to hear from me on this one - I had a three day long failed induction because J was almost two weeks overdue that ended in a c-section. Turns out he had a 97th percentile head that just wasn't going to engage in my normal size pelvis.

I'm a FTM too and like PP said the best thing you can do is relax and go with the flow. Oh and don't stock up on small sizes of clothes. My giant baby was already in size 6-9 months clothes at 3 months old.

If you're really curious, somewhere on our board is a thread that has links to all of the birth stories we posted. Let's just say we had a wide range of experiences.

  • ::trying to swallow the white knight back down since this isn't even all that ugly:: Apparently I got some decent sleep since I have the energy to even consider white knighting. So that's good news.

Just enjoy the mystery of not knowing. It's maddening at the time, but I think it's fun to look back at how clueless I was about when they would actually arrive.

I went to exactly 41 weeks with LO. Best wishes!

  • Due dates are arbitrary....they basically mean you can expect your baby in the fall, instead of spring.  They can sometimes mean you can expect your baby at the beginning of a given month, or at the end....but even then not always.  We had plenty of March mamas deliver in February.  They're just an idea of when LO might come.

My very first EDD (from fertility friend.com) was March 19th.  My date changed a few times until about mid pregnancy they gave me March 22nd as a due date.  Due to being an insulin dependent gestational diabetic, I was induced on March 18th and she was born March 19th (my very first due date) via C section.  But had I not been induced, who knows, she might not have come for another week or two.

  • To scare the crap out of you:
DS1 was born exactly 13 weeks early, as a FTM with no risk factors or early signs of labour.

DS2 & DD (twins) were born 7 weeks early (okay 6weeks 6 days) after a pessary insertion, bed rest at home, three weeks hospital bedrest and being pumped full of drugs to keep me pregnant since I was 7cm dilated for nearly the last 3 weeks.

My pregnancies only relate in anyway to MY pregnancies!

Good luck. As a FTM statistically you will be later than your EDD.

  • Congrats on your lo!!! I agree with PP's - enjoy the ride. every moment of it....those last few days pregnant are really special and you will look back on them forever :)

Sorry we tend to be a snarky board.

I will say that your first U/S tends to be the most accurate, but it's different for everyone. my first u/s at 7 weeks put me at Apr. 10th. (due date based on cycle alone was march 25th, hence my posts here!) 2nd u/s at 12 weeks put me at Apr. 6. 3rd u/s at 20 weeks put me at April 4. actually gave birth on the 14th, went into labor naturally the evening of the 13th.

  • How close was your due date? - close to what? I'd say it was an exact date given to me, but it was an Estimated Due Date Was it right on the money? - see above response Were you early and by how much? - no (replying only regarding a non-AMA pregnancy) Or were you late? - first baby was 12 days late (according to EDD) thankfully because of induction, because otherwise who knows how long I would have been pregnant....., second one was 7 days beyond EDD after going into labour naturally....., my third required medical intervention prior to EDD, so it doesn't count.
  • Congrats! Try not to stress about this because it's out of your control. My due date was 3/9. I was induced on 3/4 for low amniotic fluids and LO was born on 3/5.
  • Congrats! I'm a FTM, had a due date of 3/16, he was born on 3/22.  Contractions started around 5am that morning and he was born at 4pm.  Best wishes!!

  • Appreciate all the input by the people who understood my post.

like my post said, I know everyone is different. I'm a ftm. Was just curious, wasn't asking for any of you to be rude.

Also. I am relaxed. Not stressing at all.. just asking.. simple post. Sorry to offend/ bother you all so much. Didn't have to post if it IRKS you so badly.

    Top notch mothers ;)
  • Treat me that way.. sheesh! Feel bad for when your growing children have simple questions and curiosities.

And I picked March, because I was born in March. Simple.
  • Insert eye roll gif here.
Also, handing OP a pair or BGP.
But thank you for making this thread a little more entertaining.

  • Too many P&R here. I'm not usually full of snark, but where is everyone else to dish it out?

There is no way to know OP! You could have practically the same pregnancy with two kids and they'd pop out on different days.

  • Congratulations!! I woke up on my due date at 5am with very strong and frequent contractions. Called my dr at 7 and was told to go to the hospital. I was only dialated 1cm but they said I had "end of labor contractions" as a first time mom I also didn't know what to expect. I got my epidural right away and felt SO much better after that!!! My LO was born at 9:32pm after almost 2 hours of pushing.
Oh and they predicted that he was going to be 8-9lbs so i returned all of the newborn clothes. He ended up being 7.3lbs and we needed our moms to go shopping for newborn clothes again! Keep the tags on your clothes and save all receipts!! Pre-wash one outfit in 2 sizes just to go home in. Laundry can always be done by your husband or bf after LO is born and you know his/her size. Good luck!! 12-13-14 is a cool date!! My friend is getting married that day!
  • And here I was, hoping for some quality GIFs.
